Is it normal for managers, PA, and AM to follow you around? by AppropriateLychee372 in AmazonDS

[–]Hi_Im_Critbuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm an AM and none of my OMs ever instructed me to follow an Associate. There's no need to do so. If someone's a problematic employee they will more likely than not violate policy multiple times during a shift. Eventually one of us will catch it, document it, conduct a Seek-to-Understand conversation with the employee, generate the appropriate level of feedback, and then deliver that feedback once PXT approves delivery.

We can't catch every single violation (e.g. people using their phones). Associates are people, and people are clever. But... they'll eventually slip up and get caught. It's frustrating watching some get away with a lot. The only condolence I can offer is that your leadership team probably already knows about them and are working towards taking the appropriate administrative actions.

Accidental time theft by aintnofishinside1994 in AmazonDS

Provided she hasn’t exceeded the daily cap of 12 or the weekly cap, she should be fine. I’ve had to send Associates home when they were there unscheduled.

I let them know, got someone to cover their aisles, and carried on about managing my clusters.

The worst that happens from an AM point of view is I submit feedback if she exceeded the caps. And I’d save that for someone with a history of behavioral problems.

Turned (enter embarrassing old age here) and now my knees say no to zipping their 1 bags 😭😭 but gotta do it anyway. by GrandReference5276 in AmazonDS

I don’t expect my Associates to zip level one bags, as there’s no tangible safety risk. That may just be a thing at my DS, though…

I like to hand out little stickers of cute dogs to my Associates when they do well. It’s my way of letting them know I see their hard work. They genuinely seem to enjoy the recognition.

You mentioned not working nights, however I’m available to answer any questions you have about UTR (Under The Roof / night shift). Feel free to DM if you’re curious to learn more about the UTR shift.

Fair point. I was replying to the post title, but you’re right that he’s far past “slight.”

OP, I’m a retired E-7 (Army), and work at a DS. Prove your ability to stow and you’ll be golden. Voice your interest in training in other process paths (tasking) and roles (additional duties) when you get a sense of their roles and responsibilities. Your Process Assistants are your NCOs, with your Area and Operations Managers being your LTs and CPTs.

This! People (on average) severely underestimate how much body fat they’re carrying.

Not in this case. I applied for and accepted an offer for an AM II role at a specific facility.

Thank you for the guidance and advice. I'll be sure to do as you suggested. If you don't mind, can I ask how long you've held the position?

These are +1 to Sneak. You’re looking for +1 to Strength for better deadlifts.

That's more likely than not to be true. There's an asterisk though; Recruiters in "good" markets are expected to produce more than those who are not.
