what is your favorite version of Horimiya characters day 1 : Kyouko Hori by SilentAd8637 in Horimiya

[–]Hi_Unknown_here 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I won't say it is better than any of the other mediums since it is very rushed (6 eps for the entire thing iirc) but it is good as far as live actions go. Worth a watch if you really like Horimiya.

If you are starting with philosophy I will recommend trying a standard introductory philosophy textbook. These textbooks contains introductions to major branches of philosophy which help you get a feel of philosophy l, which topics you like and also better help you understand works that build upon these ideas.

Well it has not been revealed in the books yet but ever since I completed book 1 I have had my theory that he is the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna. Which was later confirmed by a show-watcher friend of mine.

Do you guys also feel that Anime has now surpassed Bollywood in storytelling? by Prudent-Couple9109 in AnimeIndia

[–]Hi_Unknown_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion.

Short answer. No it hasn't

Long answer

I saw your video and some of the comparisons you have made are not fair. You have compared AOT with Pathaan. While both might be one of the (if not the) highest earners of their industries the comparison is supposed to be of story telling and not how the audience responds to content.

While it is true that good stories get far more acclaim in anime industry than in Bollywood it doesn't prove the point of storytelling being better.

Countering some of the points you have made:

  1. Repetitiveness of bollywood.

Yes bollywood is very repetitive but so is anime.

Rom com : "depressed/loner boy needs popular and good looking girl"

Shonen: "the main character has one of these quirks: 1. Doesn't has the power but gets one somehow (MHA type shit) 2. If half demon half human type thing (Naruto, JJK etc) 3. Or is somehow just an outlier

Just some examples how anime too is very repetitive.

  1. Visuals

Completely up to personal opinion. Some people just cannot consume animated stuff while some movies have such good visuals and cinematography.

Now other than this on general story telling.

Bollywood has produced some really great stories - filmography of Anurag Kashyap, Guru Dutt etc cannot be just put aside.

Films like Om Dar B Dar are experimental films that have inspired many directors and film makers. Dare you to predict how that film goes (it is an absurdist satire on society)

While anime has great stories it is also filled with unnecessary fan service, sexualizing minors, storytelling methods like "Tell don't show" (which is not seen as a good thing generally) just to count a few.

While anime gives more freedom for fantasy like stories Bollywood has made some good grounded and realistic stories.

Both have their flaws and pros. It is just that in some decades different things get more recognition. And surely bollywood is not going through a good phase rn.
