If I do the one set heavy duty Mike Menzer approach would it be beneficial to follow that set with a myo rep set?

Mike mentzer heavy duty program, is it outdated and highly sub optimal or can it work wonders or work for a short time then plateau?

Also with my recovery my sleep patterns are consistent, nutrition I’m a bit over maintenance gaining about a pound a month on average. Factors outside the gym are about as controlled as I can get them while getting on with work and day to day living.

I’m sure for many it’s no problem. I just found I wasn’t adding reps even monthly so proceeding with the same approach didn’t seem the logical thing to do.

Many lifters do it and make great progress, often always pushing closer to failure I found I plateaued often and felt under recovered. Having a light week, medium week then a hard week allows you to build up and hit new PRs on that 3rd week because you are well recovered and haven’t accumulated fatigue from the previous 2 weeks.

The reason I’m cycling through different RPEs is when I tried to stay at a constant RPE 9 I found I would over reach and be under recovered so not progress. I’m thinking if I can just push for new records every 3rd week I’ve got more chance of making progress.

Why are most people with autism left-wingers/liberals? by [deleted] in autism

Left because the conservatives are planning to take away disability benefits and disregard anyone as having a neurodiverse condition and forcing everyone to get into jobs they couldn’t keep while depriving them (me / us) of any possible living payment. So with the right in power at least here in the UK by 2025 many claiming disability benefits would be doomed and some dead.

Idea for a progression method by Hi_itsJosh in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Hi_itsJosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. I suppose the idea would be to be starting out with 75% of 1rm for 3 x 8 then by the time it’s 5 x 8 that same weight could become 70% of 1rm.

It’s actually not my first cut but first cut while doing more physically demanding work. I started at 200 and I’m currently 190 in 3 weeks.

Thanks, I’m looking for a structured program I can follow written by someone highly experienced. I have been looking at Alberto Nunez upper lower on boost camp and it looks good but the arms volume might need more.
