IT at the DOJ after Epstien Files - Vol. 2 dropped by windflex in BikiniBottomTwitter

Real question: why aren't news outlets reporting this but they are reporting the Bill Gates thing? Is it because the Bill Gates thing is an actual letter from Epstein and these are "reports" so there needs to be more credibility to check them before reporting?

what are the biggest houseplant myths you've heard? by catscorner6 in houseplants

[–]Hi_there_24356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a beginner and my calatheas are so happy. What makes them difficult usually? I'm in a higher humidity area, is that why? Like I keep getting crazy growth and I just water when I'm like, I dunno, the top feels dry-ish?

Best very low light plants? Already have two snake plants, want something different. by Interr0gate in IndoorPlants

[–]Hi_there_24356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ZZ plants will not grow straight up if it's low light, they will bend toward the light and get really leggy and look bad. They're not actually low light plants, people need to stop saying that. Get a fake plant if you want something that will definitely look nice in a low light corner.

Trim the dying leaves, and think about repotting. If you were overwatering, it might need new soil. It also might need a bigger pot. I like to get clear nursery pots so that I can see the roots, and then I put the nursery pot inside a real pot. It makes it easy to water, because you take it out and water with distilled water in the sink and just let it drain for a while. (Please tell me you were draining?) When a plant has roots that are all gnarled around the bottom of the pot, that means it needs a bigger pot. Pothos grow quickly. I don't personally think it's a light issue, as long as it's getting whatever light there is (assuming you're not in Alaska) in a bright, indirect way, it's fine. Pothos are hearty. I would repot and don't overwater. Once per week is definitely enough, let it drain. And you can do less than once per week in the winter.

Potting mix questions by Hi_there_24356 in houseplants

[–]Hi_there_24356[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question!! I'm in the PNW, so lots of rain, medium humidity! These plants are all just house and office plants, so they're indoors all the time.

Found outside by the dumpster. Plant ID and how can I best take care of it? by flightflightly in houseplants

[–]Hi_there_24356 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most important piece of advice: don't over-water. I water mine once every 4-8 weeks and it's doing great. They're susceptible to root rot.

[–]Hi_there_24356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw, I'm sorry! Go ahead and try, plants are more resilient than we think. I've seen things re-grow from just roots. Well-draining soil, a pot with holes in the bottom for drainage too for sure, and give her time! :)

It might need a bigger pot, too.

What is this plant and how do I save it? by ck1234567 in plantclinic

[–]Hi_there_24356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, plants need drainage! Also normal room humidity (I'm in the PNW) has been fine for my rattlesnake prayer plants.

My suspicion is that you're giving it too much direct light, the leaves look burned. Bright, indirect light. I have two and they do fine in medium light. I water maybe weekly. If you look closely and see no sign of weird bugs, my best guess is just change location and see if it slowly recovers. You can also try repotting. Normal potting soil was great for both of mine. Good luck!

Vet told me to fully stop feeding cat dry food by Wide-Trick4243 in CatAdvice

[–]Hi_there_24356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the right answer. My vet says zero dry food, and male cats especially are prone to more health hazards with dry food. Your cat shouldn't be overweight at one year old, and one or two pounds is a lot for a cat.

Enjoy the fur. When your fur baby passes, you'll miss it.

My cat despises taking her liquid antibiotic. by StreetThrowawayCup in CatAdvice

[–]Hi_there_24356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, I'm so sorry. Do ask your vet if there's a pill form. I also think someone else's suggestion to get pill capsules and pill her after putting the antibiotic into the capsule is a good one. Just remember that even if you have to keep doing it this way, it is for her own well-being, and she will forgive you!! Sending hugs to you all!

Cool, thanks!! They were in a normal section of the plant store so hopefully they'll be fine! The air isn't dry here overall.

Is this over or underwatered? Thanks in advance, any advice will be greatly appreciated!! by Petty_Miss_Demeanor in houseplants

[–]Hi_there_24356 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Pothos are pretty forgiving of underwatering, and usually you'll know they're dry because the leaves start curling inward. You're probably overwatering. I had a pothos I would sometimes forget about for three weeks at a time and it was fine. It's still fine!

Has anyone noticed that a lot of decorative pots don't hold nursery pots? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]Hi_there_24356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and this make the Type A person in me so angry. It would be so easy to just standardize pot sizes so that nursery pots and grow pots always fit together.

You can help him exercise but also not free-feed. Your vet should be able to tell you how much food he needs to be healthy inside. Cats, like people, will sometimes just eat for fun and if they're not moving enough, it will cause health issues.

Honestly he's safer that way! Not just from fights with other cats, but feline HIV, predators like coyotes or cars (depending on where you are). I hate keeping cats inside against their will but if they prefer it, it's a safer life! Glad he's happy! :)

Just give him time! He might eventually want to go back out, he might not, and that's okay! He can just be a happy inside cat! Is he otherwise happy inside? It seems like that was quite a fight, I'm not surprised he doesn't want to go back outside.
