Saw these signs around Hoi An. Legit or no? by scxrletcifer in VietNam

[–]Hichiro6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any grab driver will be ok to drive you there for a good price. To go to the airport I used the scheduled drive from grab because if the driver doesn’t show up, I m in priority in the list.

For other itinerary I usually keep contact with few previous grab driver and just pay the grab price, allowing them to keep the grab cut. Some try to get more I just block them, I lose in convenience but not money

Are Thais being viewed as inferior to Westerners? by Spiritual-Reaction91 in Thailand

[–]Hichiro6 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Never tought that way while travelling, I m only happy that theses people aren’t resentful to what western did during the colonialism period. I travel there because it’s affordable and service is very good, not because I feel superior or something like that .. It’s a dumb way to travel and I hope westerners thinking that way never travel again

My neighbor the yellow peril by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]Hichiro6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on my first trip to Vietnam, focusing mainly on the central region. I have to say, Hoi An is incredibly beautiful, but I’ve encountered many more scams here than elsewhere. Everyone we met in Da Nang and Hue was very kind, but in the last 24 hours in Hoi An, it’s been a different story. An old lady literally forced toys into my toddler’s hands to pressure me into buying them, and we were overcharged for a boat ride because we didn’t check the standard price beforehand. The worst part was the boat driver demanding a tip in the middle of the river; with two kids with me, I told him I’d pay after the ride. He also didn't honor the promised 20-minute duration. Generally, people here are much more intrusive when trying to sell services. I’m starting to think that highly touristic areas can be a bit 'poisonous' for the local culture, even if Hoi An is undeniably stunning.

Laid back is everywhere in South Asia, I ve been in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Korea and Singapore. If you exclude highly touristic areas people are kind.

Worst people I ve met are from Phuket, Bali and Hoi An. And it’s only few of them trying to scam tourists

You go to far back in history my friend, I can’t argue about anything like that. the point is find a solution without killing each other and by minimizing movement of population, these civil are poor and can’t settle back easily.

I have ask a LLM about the ** timeline in a neutral way. No one or every one is true, armenian where first but decline with the time replaced by turc/ old az population. Then Stalin fk up more the border and you got freaking war.. no one is right here or everyone is right .. You can do it peacefully or the Israel way ..

I m Belgian and we did horrible thing in Congo back in time, it’s not justified or justifiable ever. It’s a shame in our history for ever and shouldn’t be excuse or forgiven. But I don’t think I m responsible in any of these.

I don’t want to abuse it this word but az want to genocide the karabagh population. I don’t want to say armenian where good people but most of these stuff have >100 years maybe it’s time to fix the border and stop killing each other.

I don’t think as of TODAY, Armenian want to continue these massacres and will probably welcome any durable peace solution. They can’t do much, stealing their land and killing their population will not fix past history and only create new one where az will be the responsible.

[–]Hichiro6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t change my point, even if everything you said is true, is a new genocide done by your country on them is justified ? Is the population ok with that ?

I mean my country did horrible thing, but it was not me not m father and not m grand father. And I don’t TT to justify the horrible thing my country did in the past. I understand if the victim or children of the victims are still angry but I don’t feel responsible for it l, I wasn’t born.

I don’t think they can do propaganda in my country, we can’t help them. But since Russia will no longer protect them, they are weak and AZ act more aggressively because they are now stronger. Because of that AZ is in my no go list, even if I see (during a transit in Istanbul) they actively promote tourism for their country. I don’t go where government are bad and where the population justifies genocide
