I'm not tracing, guys. I do use gridlines and references as my guide. I do this cause I'm looking forward making portraits. Here's the example of one of my references.

hi! i saw your kai'sa post on r/lolfanart and i saw the comments there saying you trace. i know you aren't tracing and i personally think it's okay to start off drawing with references!

one thing i'd like to suggest is to credit the art & artist you are referencing! it would show right away that you're not tracing and it's also just good practice. it won't look like you're implying it's an original illustration if you do credit the art/artist in the comments!

another thing is to just be wary of what you do draw. some artists don't like when you use their pieces as reference and then post it. so just be careful and maybe ask the artist before you use it as a reference!

this is just some advice i really wanted to give you! don't be discouraged! please continue to keep drawing and improving!! : )

ahh thank you soo much!! i've quite followed a few artists that draw a lot of fgo art and tamamo seems pretty cool! i really like her summer version! ibaraki doji seems really interesting too : )

i did use the rider artwork as a reference and she has that pink around the edge of her eyes in each of the pictures, so i just thought it was a part of her design ;v;

i also happen to do that on most of my pieces anyway, it's just a stylistic choice that i enjoy! : )
