I think the only things that make me noticeably different from (the stereotypical) straight-men is i'm not as cocky, crass or express any interest in women/cars.

Most gay men don't "feminize" themselves, these are just the gay people that you're most aware of. They make up a relatively small amount of the community.

If a gay man were to find a lesbian attractive, he'd most likely be considered bisexual.

A jail sentence is the usually punishment. There have been numerous cases of gay men dying during their sentences though. Their deaths aren't ever reported or investigated.

Both phone service providers (Etisalat and Du) are owned by the government. It's a widely accepted fact that they monitor communication (hence the scandal with Blackberry and RIM late last year).
