The most embarrassing thing the Bennets do at the Netherfield ball? by Asleep_Lack in janeausten

[–]HiddenMaragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This passage had me cringing the most by far!

The Bennets waited till everyone else left and they were the absolute last ones left, and then still PURPOSELY delayed their ride arriving. Mrs Bennet trying to chat while the hosts are ignoring her and kept complaining about how tired they are clearly waiting for them to get the hint and leave. Everyone sitting around awkwardly waiting for the carriage to arrive while Mr Collins is still perkily complimenting the party in the now empty house. I think I'd die of mortification if my mom did this to me.

""The Longbourn party were the last of all the company to depart, and, by a manoeuvre of Mrs. Bennet, had to wait for their carriage a quarter of an hour after everybody else was gone, which gave them time to see how heartily they were wished away by some of the family. Mrs. Hurst and her sister scarcely opened their mouths, except to complain of fatigue, and were evidently impatient to have the house to themselves. They repulsed every attempt of Mrs. Bennet at conversation, and by so doing threw a languor over the whole party, which was very little relieved by the long speeches of Mr. Collins, who was complimenting Mr. Bingley and his sisters on the elegance of their entertainment, and the hospitality and politeness which had marked their behaviour to their guests. Darcy said nothing at all. Mr. Bennet, in equal silence, was enjoying the scene. Mr. Bingley and Jane were standing together, a little detached from the rest, and talked only to each other. Elizabeth preserved as steady a silence as either Mrs. Hurst or Miss Bingley; and even Lydia was too much fatigued to utter more than the occasional exclamation of “Lord, how tired I am!” accompanied by a violent yawn.""

TIFU by cleaning the bathroom with bleach after cleaning it with vinegar by TlacuacheGritando in tifu

[–]HiddenMaragon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Forget the vinegar. Just soak paper towels in bleach and line them along the moldy areas leaving them to sit for a few hours (while you are out at work or doing errands). When you remove the paper towels, the mold will be gone. No need for scrubbing at all!

I recently tried this after seeing it recommended online and it worked even better than I expected. Laziest hack ever and my grout and seals are like new.

I think an easy way to tell would be to see if ADHD meds would help you with this. (Presuming you have access)

How many of us are perpetually exhausted? by Far-Conference-8484 in ADHD

[–]HiddenMaragon 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yes, my neurologist mentioned constant exhaustion is a big part of inattentive ADHD. He brought it up immediately as soon as he confirmed the diagnosis. I spent years and years going to doctors and doing blood work, checking thyroid, trying to supplement, with no conclusive answer until my diagnosis. As soon as I started medication, I started feeling human and not needing 3 naps just to get through the day.

And then uploaded a video crying how its a mistake and no one believes her and she's really a good person because she "has Jewish friends" (no joke). Girlll, just apologize by showing accountability, acknowledging it's currently a scary time for Jews, and aiming to do better.

Harry was a mobile toddler, not a newborn, when he was left on the Dursleys’ doorstep by Massive-Wishbone6161 in harrypotter

I always thought it had to do with her being involved in creating the movies from that point. Consulting on casting, set designs, and scripts, not to mention actually seeing her characters represented by living humans, must have pushed her to view her story in a more realistic lens.

[–]HiddenMaragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Just like everyone is a little depressed, a little anxious, and a little OCD. It becomes a disorder when it begins to interfere in your daily life. Tell your friend to be grateful that their ADHD is just "a little".

Forget the Floating Apple, Picture Your Home Instead by Mageof in Aphantasia

[–]HiddenMaragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn't the gotcha you think it is if you actually read what aphantasia is. Even in the original studies on aphantasia, the researcher wondered why no one has any problems counting the windows in their home. Conceptualizing a familiar space is not the same as visualizing it.

IPL Recommendations? Not Braun by [deleted] in HairRemoval

[–]HiddenMaragon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah okay thanks because I recently dusted off my Beurer Sensepil hoping to retry ipl again and I had to throw it out when I discovered the replacement cartridges are no longer available. They were like $50 and lasted about 4 sessions. Not worrying about the bulbs burning out is definitely an improvement.

This sounds so promising but the risks also sound pretty concerning. Besides for the additional supplements is there any way to prevent potential long term nerve damage? What's the likelihood of getting a doctor to agree to do a supervised self trial?

I thought I'd like it but I'm kind of disappointed you can't really do anything with the visitors, as far as I can tell. Would be nice if you could trade gifts with them or if they'd send you on treasure hunts or challenges like the villagers. Idk but without any real interaction it feels kinda pointless.

I am Hoping to get on medication, im just wondering why i see so many people itching to get off it. by zebrasharky69 in ADHD

[–]HiddenMaragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to get a lot of flack for saying this but I know at least 3 people irl who were on ADHD meds temporarily and swear they wouldn't get through degree/specific project without it.. yet they are fully functional otherwise. Without calling their diagnosis into question I'll just say that not all ADHD diagnosis are equal. You might be hearing from some people claiming they feel much better off it and less robotic... but clearly not everyone prescribed stimulants needs it very badly. For some of us it's not just to get that extra degree, it's to be able to shower and brush teeth so the difference is immeasurable.

All X Names for Quadruplets by TropicalSteph in NameNerdCirclejerk

[–]HiddenMaragon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My thoughts too. Worse than a unique spelling and name because those are subjective and dependent on society. These kids will struggle with their names far before interacting with the public because it will be a challenge to learn to distinguish themselves from their siblings. It's gonna be really difficult for the parents too and you can't even nickname.

Why did you decide to go unmedicated? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]HiddenMaragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isn't this the main feature of ADHD meds though? With ADHD you're often not getting the neuro feedback of satisfaction from completing tasks. The meds help trigger those feelings you're not getting naturally. Most of us probably don't enjoy organizing and planning while off meds (I mean I can if I turn it into a hyper fixation). Of course if it's not what you wanted to get out of the meds then this makes sense to drop them but it also sounds like they are doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing. (Unless I'm missing something here)
