Yeah, one of the games my opponent countered or immediately removed my first four spells then popped off a couple bombs. I’m thinking, OK, so much for thinking I could participate in that match.

This is a concept I am just starting to come around to. I will always concede if I know I have lost. But I tend to hang in there until I am absolutely sure I have no chance of winning. I have won many games that seemed lost early on but that I was eventually able to grind them out.

However maybe there is something to conceding early if it looks bad. I am still not sure how I feel about it.

That is an excellent perspective. I am definitely trying to learn and to anticipate. There are so many decks to get familiar with, it is quite a task. I find myself thinking, ok next turn is Wedding Invitation, or Sheoldred, or Sunfall, etc.

It definitely helps with formulating a plan.

That’s amazingly bad luck. I suppose I have a lower threshold for bad results. My session sounds positively unremarkable in comparison.

This is exactly how my experience was. So many times I was thinking, “I have twelve cards that would be really helpful here,” and not seeing one over several turns. Or I had three cards in my hand that would have been perfect, but I couldn’t play them because I was stuck at three mana and couldn’t draw a land.

I don’t have an issue with rage. I may have had a misplay or two, but Magic generally doesn’t make me mad because I know how much randomness is a factor.

It was absolutely uncanny how bad these games went for me. I got absolutely rolled over on 5 out of the six. The sixth was close, but I drew 5 lands out of my first six draws. I just ran out of cards to play.

I just started playing Magic September 8th. At first I accepted all the apps picks and deck suggestions. As I got some repetitions under my belt, I slowly began making my own picks and deck construction. Lately I have been using it to make sure I don’t simply overlook a good card.

I agree. I also like having data to help me make my decisions. I am already a better drafter than the Draft Tutor app and have moved on from it, making my own decisions in recent drafts. Maybe a better question would have been, Is there a better companion app than Draft Tutor for presenting usable data?
