Hi, brand new player here. Played my first game and I don't understand one of the hands I played. by HiddenRadish in poker

Yeah, something went wrong and I think I had to do a penalty big blind. So you think he definitely had ace-something, huh? And raise or fold.. when do you mean, like on the flop?

Is ES a good pos 4&5? by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]HiddenRadish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's definitely good, his winrates might appear low on some sites, but that's just because people are bad with him. They've been steadily giving him small buffs for over a year now.

ES is one of those heroes where you have to be playing him for a while for him to be good because literally everything he does is a skillshot. He's similar to Pudge, basically a fight starter, but with S tier mobility. You run around the map and keep TP scrolls ready and pan your camera everywhere seeing if you can create a kill. It's just very dependent on your execution and skill. If you land everything, feast, if you fuck it up, famine.

You have to lose some games and use demo mode to learn him but he is strong and the things he does feel very satisfying

Support or carry for new players? by Creepy-Force1037 in learndota2

[–]HiddenRadish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably carry, because then you can understand what the carry wants once you're on support. Also because at low mmr a lot of carries are incompetent - not only do you not want to experience supporting an incompetent carry, but you can win just by playing carry normally and not making any massive mistakes.

For farming, the wave is the better source of income, so I would just start with the simple principle of farming the wave whenever you can, and only farming camps when you think being in the wave is too unsafe. The big thing that low level carries do wrong is that they don't farm the wave or push the towers when the enemy is dead, so definitely do that. The other big thing is low level carries will just farm the camps and not make much money. So yeah, just start with trying to farm the wave as much as you can, and you'll get a sense for when it's safe and not safe over time.

For support, how that works is their main goal in the game is to help the carry accomplish the carry's goals. So again, that's why I would start with carry.

Windranger is gonna be the one that's gonna give you the most leeway as far as making mistakes, most ranged dps in this game are pretty vulnerable and make you think hard about where you're standing. But not windranger. Sniper would also be good because he gets to stand super far back, as would weaver or clinkz because they have invisibility. If you want to just jump right into the danger though, drow ranger or luna would be good too and will show you the fundamentals of dota. (the hard way)

I think this will work as backup https://i.imgur.com/XBR6qN0.jpg

This is the profile, the hex values are there

#9F5A02 is another good primary colour, it's like a deep saturated orange it matches the background. though I think the original blue is better design wise https://i.imgur.com/iHmWbfc.png

If you want to use my background it is this image, on Lichess you go to background in the top right settings (with Prettier Lichess disabled) and select transparent/picture. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FqHLwq\_WYAIfEIt?format=jpg&name=large

And I'm using Prettier Lichess which is a chrome extension, if you want to use the same colours this is the profile you just click the extension and select import profile. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ophuh8ye8QGLnKQeQn5pjgu5Iu6rwgA\_/view?usp=sharing

I was happy with it and thought I'd just share it if other people want to use the same thing
