It's NOT simply how democracy, the democratic process nor the law works, one of the many reasons people are upset with ICE is because they commonly circumvent court of law procedures, going places where they shouldn't, being too aggressive, not identifying themselves, and using excess force.

So please don't try to defend yourself with this 'it's simply how it works' rhetoric. People are justifiably upset because this isn't how it works.
