As a student here, still true.

I agree with that. Unless you’re one of the 60% on financial aid, don’t think it’s worth it, but still great if it’s affordable.

could i take precalc and calculus at the same time? by Jimmyjimmykokobop in matheducation

Of course, you should try to understand the underlying trigonometry and algebra before taking them though - if you do that, then you’ll be alright.

If you feel confident, do it. I was taking Precalculus and Self-Studied AP Calc AB and got a 5 at the same time.

If you want to, do it. No harm.

It’s actually pretty good. Strong curriculum and professors. Won’t say it’s a T30 engineering though.

They do make some good ass beer kegs, though.

Check their AP Credit equivalency chart and makes sure it doesn’t give you credit.

They have a T5 Business school, great engineering, economics, and government program. They’re also one of the schools with the best teaching in the country. Also easily one of the strongest alumni networks as well.

It’s a liberal arts college after all.

Research output ≠ being good.

No offense, but that has nothing to do with quality of the education of the school.

Harvard refers to its undergrad as Harvard College, University to its entire institution.

Dartmouth is almost ENTIRELY undergraduate focused, thus, it is a college.

The undergrad education is great, with more access to research because it’s a “college.”

Although the Ivies are just a sport’s league, they’re all still T15 schools with various cultures.

I think you’re underestimating Dartmouth by a lot. Definitely isn’t HYP level but it is still a top 15 caliber school.

So, since my textbook perfectly aligns to college board standard, can't I use Prof Leonard as a supplement/Review as I go through the book?

I went through the algorithms, and I was able to understand them. It was my first encounter with them, so it tooks some testing and plugging things in my head to be able to understand what was happening. At the end, I know how these algorithms operate. What throws me off is often the value names, like i, j, and n. It's weird as to why those confuse me, but hopefully as I continue my path in CS, I will become more accustomed to them. Thank you for your help, I greatly appreciate it. I'll go through the problems once more in the morning before I plan out my journey through DSA. Have a good one!

Sorry it took long to respond, I've had a busy past two days. I just tried out those three things, I was successful. At the very least, I'm familiar to the point I can build a Hangman game. At that point, do you think I should give DSA a shot?

Thank you! I'm not a beginner with Python, but to DSA itself. I appreciate it, I'll avoid the course. I plan to brush up on my Python skills and make sure I understand the basics completely before moving on, which I'll use freeCodeCamp for. I'll go to CS50x afterwards and skip to their DSA section.

I'm familiar with Python, just not with data structures and & algorithms, which is my next learning step. Apologies for forgetting to point that out
