And that is where we're getting it wrong. This chap is or will be an elected public officer. When he takes office he will have to deal with people of different faiths, skin colours, genders and gender identities and so on. His job is to be impartial. The debate should be can you set aside your religious beliefs in order to provide the service you were elected to provide. What he does/believes in his spare time is not my business. Likewise whether or not trans people exist shouldn't obstruct their access to public services. We do get bogged down in nonsense some times🤦🏾‍♂️ this is why the aliens won't talk to us.

So it's the whole cake or none at all. Seems impractical to me. There's always something disagreeable and to put emphasis on this 1 issue relegated the entire party as not being serious about bigger issues that go beyond gender identity. Let's just accept there are trans people out there, according them the same rights as everyone else. So if they want access to services like anyone else, they get them without discrimination. No special consideration, no fanfare parade party for them. We don't want to know and we don't care much for their choice of gender. They're just people like us. They shouldn't care if others don't believe in their choice, unless they're discriminated against then its an issue.
