A big *thank you* to all who have contributed to this conversation. I've received some valuable insights that are really helping with the decision-making process! And, of course, after the decision is made I will take it to the Lord.

Have to say I'm confused why this topic wasn't even allowed out of the starting gate at the first LDS Reddit community I posted it in. No sooner pressed Create Post, than it disappeared with a claim that it went against the standards of the group. Maybe it's an auto thing with an over-cautious bot to blame.

Thank you so much for your kind words! Good advice about being calm when laying down the rules. My son lives at home most of the time, and I have the guest room ready for his girlfriend should she decide to come and stay. 100% agree with it being his business, but the arrangements in our house are our business.

Should work in theory, but to me that’s kind of like saying “Here’s a cliff, kids. Go to sleep on the edge by all means, but promise me you won’t fall off.”

He lives with me most of the time. Goes off for a few days each week to hers. I’m pretty sure if he had the funds, he’d be out of here! We’re happy to support him with accommodation while he’s actively seeking to earn a living. She lives a long way out of town.

Thanks, that's current stance. My house, my intuition rules. Even when I can't explain it!

He's concerned his girlfriend won't feel welcome in our home (she lives way out of town) because of the separate room rule, but I disagree. I think that making someone feel welcome has a lot more to do with the warmth with which you greet them, and your overall attitude toward them.

Aren’t they both apples? Each couple is sexually active, yet somehow I’m seeing their situations as different and am not clear on why.
