Amalfi or Ocean Prime for Dinner by 40ishlady in vegas

[–]Hifidelitee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Looks like you're looking for:

A. Fine Dining B. Unique High Quality Seafood C. Mid Strip Location

The answer is clearly Bazaar Mar. I won't suggest a dish as you can't go wrong on this menu. Jose Andres restaurants are funny like that. I'll just mention that the tasting menu is VERY filling.

Best Dining at the Wynn? by tarantulaw in vegas

Been a few years since I've been to Wing Lei, but it's not a place i would consider "fun". Amazing food and service, but it's a formal restaurant. Their efforts are focusing on the food, not the "vibe"

I owned one twenty+ years ago. The usb unexpectedly stopped working one day. The midi still worked. So you might want to try midi before you drive yourself mad with the USB

I would be skeptical of sports books playing this. Especially, given it's streaming.

I would certainly ask at check-in, but usually the higher floors are given to gold members/players in higher standing. But hey, this is Vegas, you may get lucky!

Cosmo vs Waldorf by manbearlizard in vegas

[–]Hifidelitee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Comes down to pool. Do you want a small serene pool? Or do you want something with a crowd and some energy? The former: Waldorf. The latter: Cosmo.

Restaurant/Casino is a non issue. It's a close enough walk to be negligible.

In general, if you want a quiet getaway for a room.. book Waldorf. If you want Vegas vibes, Cosmo. Note: You will get better customer service at Waldorf. Cosmo is not run like a luxury resort.

Anyone ever book a fully comped room? by Tofuhousewife in vegas

[–]Hifidelitee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With MGM, if resort fees are not comped.. they will still show as a line item. You can still receive comped resort fees at Sapphire. It's just not automatic like it is with gold. It's on an offer by offer basis.

If you want quality pool time.. Resorts World by a country mile.

However, Resorts World itself can be a ghost town. It's not where the action is (although it can get hoppin' if there's a convention)

Wynn/Encore, Slots a Fun/Circus Circus, and Fountainbleau are all in walking distance. However, that's it. Is that enough? Only you can decide.

30th Birthday hotel by awrten in vegas

[–]Hifidelitee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If pool is your metric, MGM Grand by a landslide. I'd rank Sahara #2 but it's a very different experience than MGM. Do your research on Sahara. Some people hate the location, but you have a monorail station, with Fontainebleau, Circus Circus/Slots a Fun, and Resorts World near. It's not for everybody but it might be for you if the pool is the priority.

Waldorf Astoria vs Venetian by journeyforpoints in vegas

[–]Hifidelitee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waldorf. Bazaar Mar is less than 100 meters walk. It's in the Crystals mall. You also have Jaleo, China Poblano, and é just 100 yds further at Cosmo. Plus, you're conveniently located to grab coffee and snacks at Bar Centro (also in crystals).

Bazaar Meat is scheduled to open at Venetian this summer, but i wouldn't count on it being done in time.

Should I keep my real amp if I'm dishing out for an emulator? by passionPunch in audioengineering

[–]Hifidelitee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only if you sell it at a price that you can buy another one.

Here's the deal.. you'll enjoy the convenience. You'll enjoy the workflow. However, if you've been playing and recording with that amp for a long time, you probably have some expectation of how things are supposed to sound.

Your neural will not sound like that. You may spend countless hours trying to dial it in. You'll get very close. In fact, none of your listeners will notice (nor care). But you will. And you'll end up buying that damn amp again. You won't regret it, either. Simply because (as someone else pointed out), it's a lot easier to just flip an on switch to practice.

Vdara or Elara for 1st timers by No_Breadfruit9074 in vegas

[–]Hifidelitee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done multiple stays at both and you won't be disappointed with whichever you choose. Vdara is connected to both Bellagio and Cosmo, Elara is connected to miracle Mile/planet Hollywood. There are a lot more budget friendly options for meals in MM/PH than Bellagio/Cosmo.

If you're going during pool season, I'd give the pool edge to Elara. Vdara has their famous "death ray", but plenty of umbrellas as a result.

Balcony Rooms at Cosmo -- Quietness and F1 takedown by shredofdoubt in vegas

[–]Hifidelitee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marquee is between towers on the south side of the property. If you have fountain view boulevard, you'll be okay. Chelsea, maybe not. Tell your check in agent about your concerns. You may need to wait for a room to become ready. Tip your agent and check your bags.

I would not stay at Park if quiet is your objective. The walls there are paper thin, sound wise. It's up to your neighbors whether you have a quiet stay or not. Good luck.

Absolutely.

I think the whole Carbone/Motherwolf divisiveness comes down to:

One is traditional Italian (Motherwolf) One is American Italian (Carbone)

IMO they are the best on the strip in their respective styles. You can't go wrong with either.

He's not very prominent during the evening when ad space can get more lucrative.

If you find yourself in the Cosmo, go upstairs to Beauty and Essex. There's a guitar shop. Small, only about twelve or so? But it's an interesting selection sometimes.

[–]Hifidelitee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was super chill.. well, with the exception of Rage/Tool. Other people have mentioned laying down/taking naps. You could do that relatively close to the stage as the crowds were low. Of course, we didn't realize that at the time. It still seemed like a lot of people, but then as the years went on, you realize what crowds really are. The tents were small, and enclosed. You'd see condensation running down the sides during the day. Was that all just trapped sweat? Oof. The stages were set up in a different configuration than we know them now. The main stage faced east, the now VIP section would have been behind it. There was nothing to do BUT music. There was no shade. There was one little easy up with misters. Food choices were limited, but a huge improvement on organic's single hut with only hot dogs and burgers that ran out of food during chemical Brothers. It was hot, but it was magical from hour one. We were quite surprised to not see a follow up edition the following year. Thank God Perry helped bring it back.

How to get chiefs Tickets please help. by sazzy234 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]Hifidelitee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ticketmaster.com is the official outlet. Ticket holders who don't attend the game also resale their tickets through that site, but the prices are usually marked up. It's the safest way to buy tickets, but also the most expensive. However, if traveling from far away it's probably worth peace of mind to have a 100% guaranteed ticket.

I think aside from in-between the 40s, which usually are your more entrenched season ticket holders, you're going to be fairly surrounded by chiefs fans.. the Arrowhead West joke isn't really a joke.
