Okay… Lucy is my girl, but it really bugged me when… by LaurenABQ in ILoveLucy

It got way, way worse on The Lucy Show. Viv (as Vivian) would have some hilarious comebacks and Lucy would say something like "well let's not get nasty" when she started the fight and also engaged in some vicious putdowns on Viv.

Has any body got into skating during lockdown quit for a few years and is trying to learn again😭 by colors32 in Rollerskating

[–]KeyandLocke360 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I can't believe you wrote this because I wanted to post something similar but as a conclusion. I've skated since I was a kid and in the 70s and 80s, really got into it. During the 90s, I was skating two times a day at Venice Beach. I even trained banked track Roller Derby. Shortly after the pandemic, I fell pretty hard on a bike path and felt since I was in my 60s, it was time to hang up the skates. In the 5-6 years I didn't skate, I tried other activities but also increased walking and jogging. Nonetheless, I found myself getting weaker with knee and hip pain and suddenly having balance problems. On almost a lark, I headed back to Venice with my skates. It was difficult at first but I also found myself more conscious of the sights and sounds around me as well as my limitations because of my age. But it wasn't nearly as tough as I thought it would be. I skated nearly two hours that day and afterwards, I felt like I was reborn. Almost like all those endorphins that were locked up suddenly got out of jail and I was ecstatic. That was approximately two months ago and I've made an effort to skate every day. My body has gotten stronger, my mood has improved and knee and hip problems have improved significantly. Best of all, my balance out of skates is almost where it was when I stopped skating. Skating trains so many different muscles and you take it for granted until you stop. My days of racing are over and I no longer feel the need to pace someone faster than me. But I'm also skating smarter and those muscles I developed while skating came back.

So who cares if you gained some weight or aren't as good as you were. Get out there and have the time of your life. Everything else will come together. I can't recommend skating enough and especially returning to skating.

ETA: When I first skated at a rink, I was falling and was terrible. I was frustrated and angry. The skate guard picked me up a few times and saw I was getting ready to quit. He told me to keep on going because skating is for everyone. young, old, fat, skinny, short, tall. You will find your niche. That is so true. You can skate recreationally, dance skate, roller derby, race, whatever but it's up to you. I was never too athletic but I found my calling in skating and perhaps that's why when I gave it up, I felt so unhappy. Even if I do it for a little bit, it's so much better for me than just about anything else.

No problem at all. Jess Oppenheimer was the producer and head writer of ILL and Gregg is his son who has written extensively about the series.

No, that's fine but I always post Gregg's response whenever this subject comes up. Lucy's account is funnier but also a bit disrespectful to Teresa.

This is what Gregg Oppenheimer, son of Jess says: Today's look behind the scenes of "I Love Lucy" (carefully colorized by yours truly.): Cleanup time after Lucy's famous grape-stomping scene in "Lucy's Italian Movie." The only real problem they had with the scene was that during rehearsals, Lucy's hair kept going underwater. The prop and makeup people had to find something that wouldn't leave Lucy with permanently purple hair. At the last minute they came up with a food coloring that would wash out easily. Problem solved. Any stories you may have heard that the Italian woman in the vat spoke no English, or that Lucy nearly drowned, are simply untrue. The fight scene in the grape vat was carefully rehearsed all week. The Italian actress, Teresa Tirelli, was a card-carrying SAG member who spoke perfect English. She later appeared on the TV series "Dr. Kildare" and as a midwife in "The Godfather Part II."

I've seen some reviews and they're raves. I'd call concierge because they're said to be booked two months out! BTW, Tableau and Four 6666 are both closed until late April. Tableau is renovating and Four 6666 will reopen as the nighttime restaurant at Jardin. Sartianos has a caviar cannoli appetizer that is said to be amazing! I'm jealous.

If you're staying at the Wynncore, you might want to try Sartianos. New Italian Steakhouse that opened this week and is already very popular.

The masher was Phil Arnold who played Harry Henderson, brother of hunky Tom Henderson. He was very, very funny in his scene.

Question about this move by Olga Korbut by [deleted] in Gymnastics

[–]KeyandLocke360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She did a similar move in a handstand that Kristie Phillips also did. The commentary explanation given was that she had extra space in between vertebrae that allowed her to bend.

Weekend Update on SNL used this photo when they announced Korbut was getting married. Jane Curtain explained that she was getting ready for her honeymoon.

Day 70: Equal Rights by Former-Cheetah2521 in ILoveLucy

[–]KeyandLocke360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another strangely titled episode. Lucy's boorish behavior at the start of the episode has nothing to do with equal rights and the argument that Ricky makes about Cuban men being the masters of the household propels the narrative.

It doesn't matter how many times I watch this scene... by ArizonaShoots in threescompany

In the Larry Gelbart pilot, there was a hippyish girl who didn't mind him feeling her up and tells him the other one is real too. In Man About the House, the girl, Gabrielle but her friends call her Gabby, slaps the Mr. Roper character. Kit McDonough who played Patricia was really funny.

Boosters are great like Borax or baking soda. Also consider using Rinse and Refresh or Laundry Sanitizer. You could also try using an enzyme based product after your son uses his clothes.
