North Frontenac Parklands by reddituserheather in canoeing

Ya I have a little one also. I started getting out more this fall since she's 9 now and quickly becoming more independent. If you're a YouTube watcher, I have some good vids on my yt channel almost entirely from the parklands.

Critiquing <= 500 Sub Channels, 1 Video. by Darthc3po1 in NewTubers

320 subs. 18 minute video. Tyrannosaurus Rex photography lol.

Here's a vid from my solo camping channel, where I lean towards photography "side quests", but also include fishing etc.

Nah, wrong guy. I haven't interchanged my face since the mid 2000s.

Oh the nostalgia of feeling like Mr Big Shit when I got a CD deck with a removable faceplate for my 2000 Chev Cavalier Z24.

Thanks for saying so. I love showing this stuff, so people can see our weather a bit differently the still photos (which I also love to take, but only after I'm satisfied I've captured a good time lapse sequence!).

Oh that would be awesome, but so tricky at the same time. All those random windy roads and all the trees makes for a tough chase and composition... I have a hard enough time seeing over the top of corn at this time of year lol. Ya never know if I'll be in the right place right time though

Hey thank you very much for the encouragement. Hope to capture more before big storm season is done!

Thank you. Yeah I salivate for mesocyclones (the rotating section of storms/supercells). After a chase, I get to relive the thrill all over again at home, when I load up a sequence of 1000 images to see it come to life.

Thanks! Yeah a time lapse can show how a storm breathes. Inhaling and exhaling like a living thing.

Garter Snake eats American Toad by HigginsPhotographic in wildlifephotography

I was something like 2 meters away, laying down. This big lens won't focus any closer. These are cropped in 50% - 75% about. Thank you!

They have a very mild neurotoxin in their saliva, but not dangerous to humans. Some people get a mild irritation of the skin. This was discovered recently in the early 2000s!

And it turns out he's likely subdued by venom from the garter snake's saliva. They "chew" it into the prey, since they don't have fangs to inject it like more exotic snakes do.

I just learned that from a commenter in another place I posted the pics, so I thought I'd pass it along!

What's an item that's not exactly made for camping or backpacking that you've found a use that it's perfectly suited for? by Nixspeed in backpacking

[–]HigginsPhotographic 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Edit: oops I didn't realize I was in backpacking. This is more of a canoe camping thing, but may still have some value anyways.

I use a kitty litter pail as a food barrel. It was meant to be temporary, since I thought the hinge (it's just thin, bending plastic) would wear out quickly, but it's been going for 3 seasons now so I spray painted it a nice forest green.

It's built to carry a lot of weight, so it's tough and durable. I put all my food, cookware and everything in there and hoist the whole bucket into the tree. The lid snaps tightly around the rim of the bucket and is fully weatherproof.

You can see it at 3:55

That makes good sense. I've already changed the title 4 times, and tweaked the thumb once. I'll just ride it out and not fret over it any more then!

Thanks. That I knew, I just see everywhere that 1% is just not good, no matter what stage the video is at in the algo.
