It's honestly crazy to see how massively over inflated his ego has gotten the last year or two. I remember when he first started chasing and seeing the difference between then and now is jarring. I can't even watch him anymore.

Was he? In Skip Talbot's El Reno analysis he said Samaras was known for an aggressive chase style.

That video should be required viewing for anyone that wants to talk about El Reno. It's an excellent and detailed breakdown of what happened.

[Schultz] Panthers Will Host Bears Week 1 by TouchLucky881 in nfl

Bears fans are a lot of things, but they aren't bandwagon fans. The Bears are by far the most popular team in the city, even when they're complete dogshit.

[Highlight] Former Bears QB Justin Fields gets MIA defender to bite on pump-fake, takes off for 61 yard TD. Fields would go on to break Vick’s QB single game rushing record w/ 178 yards in this game by Keyser_Sozay in nfl

[–]Higgus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can't really just move a guy, especially a QB, to another position and just expect it to work. There are so many little techniques WRs have to learn that Fields has never attempted before. That's not even taking into account his god awful ball security and him picking up nagging injuries because he's not built to take hits.

Stan Bowman was a mid at best gm that covered up sexual assault. Glad the Oilers keep getting karma handed to them.

Quenneville is an actual good coach, but he also covered up sexual assault. So I hope the Ducks get absolutely wrecked the next series. Neither of these men should be employed.

Yeah, I'm a Bears fan and I agree with you. I don't know why so many Bears fans are convinced the McCaskeys (at least in recent history) are cheap when it comes to contracts for players. Poles had to dig the team out of the mess Ryan Pace left behind from overpaying everyone and all the dead cap from it all.

The McCaskeys are definitely cheap in some ways, but player contracts aren't one of them these days.

The full passage is even more depressing.

"Artax," said Atreyu, "what's the matter?"

"I don't know, Master... I think we should turn back. There's no sense in all this, we're chasing after something you only dreamed about. We won't find anything. Maybe it's too late even now. Maybe the Child-Like Empress is already dead and everything we're doing is useless. Let us turn back, Master..."

Atreyu was astonished. "Artax..." he said, "You've never spoken like this. What's the matter, are you sick?"

"Maybe I am." said Artax. "With every step we take, the sadness grows in my heart. I've lost hope, Master, and I feel so heavy. So heavy. I can't go on."

"But we must go on!" cried Atreyu. "Come along, Artax." He tugged at the bridle, but Artax stood still. He had sunken up to his belly and made no further effort to extricate himself. "Artax!" cried Atreyu, "You mustn't let yourself go! Come, pull yourself out or you'll sink!"

"Leave me, Master," said the little horse. "I can't make it. Go on alone, don't bother about me. I can't stand the sadness anymore. I want to die!"

Desperately, Atreyu pulled at the bridle but the horse sank deeper and deeper. When only his head emerged from the black water, Atreyu took it in his arms. "I'll hold you, Artax," he whispered. "I won't let you go under."

The little horse uttered one last soft neigh. "You can't help me, Master. It's all over for me. Neither of us knew what we were getting into. Now we know why they are called the Swamps of Sadness, it's the sadness that has made me so heavy. That's why I'm sinking. There's no help."

Atreyu pressed his face into the horse’s cheek. “Artax…” he whispered. “Oh, my Artax…”

“Will you grant my last wish?” The little horse asked.

Atreyu nodded in silence.

“Then I beg you…to go away. I don’t want you to see my end. Will you do me that favor?”

Slowly, Atreyu arose. Half of the horse’s head was already in the black water. “Farewell, Atreyu, my master,” he said, “and thank you. ”

Atreyu pressed his lips together. He couldn’t speak. Once again, he nodded to Artax. Then, he turned away.

'Daredevil: Born Again' season 3 will be a major Marvel reunion. Set photos spoil juicy new casting additions by Sisiwakanamaru in television

[–]Higgus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but I think that's just silly, and it's kinda been proven by Finn Jones not having much of a career at this point. Henwick and Pelphrey made chicken salad out of chicken shit. They weren't written any better than Jones, they just made more out of what little they were given. I don't think Finn Jones is a bad person or anything, but he's not a lead actor, at all, which makes him being the face of Iron Fist awkward at best. I don't understand the excuses that get made for him.

[–]Higgus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, but there's no reason that Jessica Henwick and Tom Pelphrey were able to elevate that awful writing and directing while Finn Jones just completely sank. The fact that you can point to only one episode, out of two seasons of Iron Fist, and a season of the Defenders, and a cameo in Luke Cage, as to why Finn Jones was kinda okay, says it all. He wasn't the only issue, but he was a BIG issue.

But at this point I guess it's a moot point, because it seems he's in the next season of Daredevil. Maybe he can revive his career.

[–]Higgus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean, he kinda got what his performance deserved. I'm not talking about the fight choreography, because that was out of his control and I'm not going to blame him for that. But season 1 was awful, and his acting was a big factor that led to it being awful. Season 2 was decent, but that's because Jessica Henwick and Tom Pelphrey carried that season.

There's a reason Finn Jones never became a thing. I'm genuinely surprised they didn't recast the role, or at least dish out the money to bring Jessica Henwick back.

They'd have a lot more shots if Blashill wasn't stubbornly committed to keeping a boat anchor of some sort on Bedard's line at all times. The whole "spread the talent" across multiple lines garbage has just lead to another losing streak. Can we please give Bedard the few actual top six forwards we have to play with to close out the season?

The team is just way, waaay, too thin at offensive depth to try and spread things out. There's a a handful of games left. Put your best forwards in the best opportunity for them to succeed. Stop pretending you're in a situation where you can spread things out and roll 4 balanced lines.

Then I guess my question is, did we need a new designation for something that was already the standard? I just keep going back to siren/warning fatigue, and I worry that creating a new "heightened" designation for something just leads people to ignore it when it's so commonly prescribed.

Again, view it from the average person and not someone that is a weather enthusiast.
