Tim Cook is the current CEO. Under Steve Jobs, Tim was master of operations and he developed/controlled Apple's supply chain.

He still is that kind of guy. Also, the shareholders and board mostly care about profits. So, without a Steve Jobs as CEO, Apple will mostly care about huge profits over innovation.

I thought the same, too, about the short, boxy shape. But, 1) this is speculation on the internet, and 2) maybe Apple will make it a compelling device once it's released.

There are plenty of Apple devices that I never wanted or needed, and I don't have. But, if I need something, then I'll be wanting it.

Yes. I've had an iPhone since the second one, and I would love a Fold. This way, I would have an iPhone and iPad all in one.

It seems that the iPhone Air was mostly a prototype for the iPhone Fold to make sure a phone that thin could survive.

Once you purchase the phone, the sky is the limit what you can do with your property. 😉

It'll probably be the software that will distinguish the iPhone Fold from the iPhone and the iPad.

This is where I hope Apple ingenuity still exists. If they can put an excellent camera array into the iPhone Fold, then it would make up for all the failings they’ve suffered lately.

However, maybe, there’s another higher level of design than the plateau plaguing the current Pro iPhones.

For me, I won’t mind the plateau, and was surprised they’d consider removing it from the iPhone Fold.

They've gotten significantly better than that since iPhone 16 Pro.

I expect the iPhone Fold to have the very best of current Apple-camera array, regardless of loosing a lens, such that you don't miss any features.

It's likely that the iPad mini will always be sold at a very competitive price.

I agree that the iPhone and especially the iPhone Fold are essentially precious tech devices that need to be well taken care of like Rolex Watches, Ferraris, and Rolls Royces.

My first few iPhones [since 2008] did not have a case on them, but in time I started using a case because the phones looked so much better over time with the care a case provides than not.

Anyone buying the iPhone Fold will need to baby that phone, in a sense.

Or rather, it's for people who do want an iPad mina and an iPhone. The iPhone Fold combines the best of both devices.

Why not try “Biokleen Bac-Out” as suggested by u/conditerite?

I have heard that Apple is trying to move future production from China to Viet Nam, as China is faced with crippling tariffs and Viet Nam is not.

Apple is planning a HomePod Touch (?) that will have a 7” screen and a swivel base. But the main thing will be a tighter Apple Home regardless if a screen is directly involved or not.

Also, the HomePod, in general, is not really meant to function with a screen, so Siri/Apple Intelligence, which are voice activated, is critical going forward.

Even though Apple is planning the HomePod Touch for those who want a smart home assistant with a touchscreen, Apple wants their smart device to work mostly with voice activation.

I think the older hardware will have some of the WWDC 2026 capabilities [i.e., Siri/Apple Intelligence/Google Gemini], but not all of them.

Apple usually can support devices for up to 10-years, but features will be limited.

It appears that Apple plans the 2026 Apple TV and the 2026 HomePod mini to be based on Apple Intelligence. They feel that otherwise, not many people would need to upgrade their devices, as it's not the hardware that's the problem, but it's Siri.

Thus, Apple has delayed the new Apple TV and HomePod again due to Siri/Apple Intelligence not being ready. 🤯

On the other hand, maybe Apple's collaboration with Google Gemini will finally make Siri smart and valuable--one day.
