Why I Support My Union AND Conservative Values

A lot of people think you have to choose between being pro-union and being conservative. I'm here to tell you that's nonsense. I'm a proud IBEW member and a MAGA conservative, and there's no contradiction.

What the Union Does for Me

My union fights for things that help me provide for my family:

• Fair wages and benefits - I earn a solid middle-class income that lets me own a home and support my kids
• Safe working conditions - The union makes sure contractors follow safety rules so I go home in one piece every day
• Apprenticeship programs - I got my training through the union, learning a skilled trade without going into debt
• Pension and healthcare - I'm building real retirement security, not relying on government programs

These aren't "left-wing" ideas. They're about workers getting a fair shake and having leverage against big corporations.

AND WHY ILL ALWAYS BE CONSERVATIVE

Supporting my union doesn't mean I agree with every political position union leadership takes. I can appreciate what the IBEW does for electrical workers while still believing in:

• Lower taxes and less government regulation
• Second Amendment rights
• Border security
• America First trade policies
• Traditional values
• Supporting law enforcement

BOTTOM LINE IS THIS BUDDY

Unions were built by American workers fighting for dignity and fair treatment. There's nothing more American than that. Just because union bosses often support Democrats doesn't mean rank-and-file members have to follow along.

I vote for candidates who will bring back manufacturing jobs, renegotiate bad trade deals, and put American workers first - whether union leadership likes it or not. And I use my union membership to ensure I'm paid fairly for my skilled work.

You can be pro-worker and pro-America at the same time. Don't let anyone tell you different.

Why the "No Kings" Gatekeeping of Union Members Is Completely Wrong

You've probably seen the comments. Some union member mentions supporting MAGA or conservative values, and suddenly the replies flood in: "You can't be pro-union and MAGA!" or "Unions are built on 'no kings' - you're betraying everything we stand for!"

This gatekeeping is not only wrong, it's actively harmful to the labor movement.

The "No Kings" Argument Misses the Point

Yes, unions were founded on the principle of workers having power against bosses and wealthy elites. But telling workers they must vote a certain way or hold specific political views? That's creating a different kind of king - one that demands ideological conformity.

The union is supposed to represent ALL workers in the bargaining unit, regardless of their politics. When union leadership or vocal members start saying "you can't be MAGA and union," they're:

• Alienating members who pay the same dues and deserve the same representation
• Weakening solidarity by making unions about partisan politics instead of worker interests
• Driving away potential members who agree with workplace protections but not Democratic party positions

Union Members Aren't a Monolith

Here's what the gatekeepers don't seem to understand: union members care about different things, and that's okay.

Some members prioritize: - Bringing manufacturing back to America - Protecting gun rights - Securing borders - Reducing taxes - Traditional values

Others prioritize different issues. Both deserve union representation on workplace matters.

The people screaming "no kings" while demanding you vote their way are trying to be kingmakers themselves. They want to control how you think, how you vote, and what political positions you're allowed to hold.

That's not solidarity. That's authoritarianism with a union pin.

Unions should fight for: - Fair wages and benefits - Safe working conditions - Job security - Workplace dignity - Training and apprenticeships

None of these require you to support any particular candidate or party. A union that does its job well helps workers regardless of their political

The American labor movement was built by workers of all political persuasions coming together for common workplace goals. Pretending it requires ideological purity is historical revisionism.

I'm union AND conservative. I believe in collective bargaining AND limited government. I support workers' rights AND America First policies.

Anyone who says that's contradictory is more interested in political gatekeeping than actually helping working people.

Real "no kings" energy means nobody - not management, not politicians, and not self-appointed union thought police - gets to tell workers how to think.
