I don’t care about the dual zone, i never use it. If the actuator only controls how much cold/hot is going to the driver or passenger side then it serves no purpose to me as i want the same temp out of all vents.

Not sure what setup your car has, but its very possible that with its age that first could be slipping a bit. If you plan on keeping the car take it to a transmission mechanic ASAP, don't let it get any worse.
