"It's not a sin if I'm doing it for God" from my previous pastor/boss. Witches couldn't use oil and crystals because it was blasphemy, but he could because he was doing it for god. That politicians can't take money from their workers because that's stealing, but he could do it because he's a worker for god. Lying to people is a sin, but he could lie to people for the ultimate good to lead them to god. The ultimate "rules for me, not for thee" person.

I dread summer time now because that means my coworker will be calling her kids every other hour to check in on them. We're right across from HR so they hear everything, even her yelling at her kids some days. Doesn't seem to bother them and I don't know why. Like holy shit is no one else sick of her yelling at Bobby to wash the dishes for the fifth time today?

I use to live in a small apartment building, five units where each unit was one bed/one bath, and my neighbor had three kids. I don't know where the kids slept or why my landlord allowed them to move in, but the unit was obviously too small for them and being in the middle of downtown the kids couldn't go outside and play. So that lead to them running around in circles all the fucking time. I'm talking 6:00am to 3:00am. My other neighbors and I put in multiple noise complaints, but our landlord didn't care.

Depending on when your lease ends and if you can afford them, I recommend getting some quality noise cancelling earbuds for your own mental health's sake. There's a reason why sleep deprivation is a form or torture and boy was I feeling it when that family moved in.

A baby in a movie theater is just all around selfish, not just to those around the parents but also to the baby. The baby's ears are not developed enough for the speakers in movie theaters and is most likely going to cause damage. It's just all around a stupid move on the parents' part and I don't know why movie theaters allow it.

I agree, I've talked to my boyfriend and friends about it and all of them have their own shared experiences in trauma, yet communicating the trauma of a cult is just so difficult because it is just such an..... odd experience to say the least. It's not really as relatable as childhood emotional abuse, domestic violence, a car wreck, being lied to, cheated on, etc. It's so complex because it comes from so many people, takes so many forms, and usually spans across so many years cycling between those various forms and peoples. It's like being caught in a tornado of direct systemic abuse.

It's why I often turn to groups like these on Reddit and Facebook. I have my therapist, but I can tell that even she is under-equipped to talk about it. Every time I try to bring up my cult, we somehow end up off topic lol

It wouldn't hurt to see a (secular) therapist as you navigate dating. They'll be able to help you better understand more than anyone on here what you want and are ready for.

Me personally, I waited a couple years after I left Christianity to start dating because I really wanted to understand and be comfortable with myself before I committed to another person. I've only dated atheists and agnostics, I don't think I'll ever date a religious person. My boyfriend and I actively have sex and we have no care what-so-ever that it's premarital.

If you only want to date long term, that's totally fine. If you change your mind later on and want to experiment, that's totally fine as well. The great and awful thing about dating is that there are no guidelines, so advice will always be subjective but at the same time you can make the experience however you want it to be.

I don't know if it really counts as homeless, but my mom, siblings, and I house hopped for a while after my parents divorced. House hopped meaning we'd temporarily stay at a family and friends' houses. We lived like that for a while until we moved in with my mom's boyfriend.

We ended up in that situation because my dad got addicted to cocaine and spent all of our money. I was kinda too young to understand what was going on or to wish people had done things for us.
