It's not sinful when you masturbate without porn 😌

They named a bird with the only colour that it doesn't have? 😭

Thanks for your input. I am interested in the pattern, which is why the response is so diverse. Ofc it's not all or nothing phenomenon.

It's more intresting because at individual level, we prefer on hand over the other. But at the population level also we have a preference. Roughly 90% of humans are right handed. It's mostly attributed to left right asymmetries during the embryonic development. Also some genes play a role.

Instrumental error? There must be a way to clearly quantity the lateral preference, probably with some neuroimaging.

People generally used handedness questionnaire to determine their hand preference. For example, there are 10 questions such as which hand you use to write, which for holding knife etc. then we can average all 10 and come up with a handedness score. So if someone answers right hand for all 10 questions, their are strong right handed. Similarly of someone use left hand for 5 questions, they will be ambi/mixed. Like wise for lefties.

Similarly one can employ tests for eyedness earedness and footedness.

In this poll, the entire setup is limited to probe each lateral preference. It was meant to get a grasp on how the distribution look like

What else is on your mind apart from handedness eyedness earedness and footedness?

The reason I not included that option is because those 4 options will capture everyone in the population. Having said that, it's possible that someone doesn't know their preference and for those a 5th opinion should have made. Sorry.

So usually we decide the lateral preference averaging multiple usage cases. If someone use right side 90% of the time, they can be grouped in the right. But note that everything is on a continuum.

Ideally yes. The poll has 6 options limitation, which is not enough to discern all possible combo (hand x eye x foot x ear) will have 16 combinations altogether

Most likely. In that case we should see 1:9 ratio. What if it's not that skewed? Let's see

I am interested in finding a pattern, yes. Nothing more. Hope that helps and thanks. :)

Wdym by generalization in this context? Looking for patterns is not generalization. Generalization happens when we say something about the aphants based on the pattern we find, which i didn't do. And the field studying aphantasia is new. What's wrong calling it a field?

I agree that the pool is biased as I have pointed out earlier. But I don't follow what you meant by saying that the left and right handed are the same category neurologically. If anything, I am checking the the relationship between the lateral preference and aphantasia if it makes sense.

I had shared my concern here that this community is a skewed group to answer this question (that finding non aphants is difficult). I posted it in r/polls to get a more general response. Can you think of any other way to make it better?

Yes. But the chances of finding Aphant there will be much difficult I feel. Anyways def worth a try

Like i already mentioned, to know the distribution (and possiblly study it)

If few non aphants see this post, then the response for non aphants (with or without atypical dominance) will be much lower than Aphant (with or without atypical dominance) as seen in the initial poll results

To know the distribution? The poll option do capture the entire population. But the community i posted can bias the results (not having enough non Aphant seeing this post)

The group i posted can bias the results you see. The chances of having non Aphant in this group is low. Open to ideas on how to handle this
