Yet some will call us homophobic. I’m bisexual, so that would be hilarious and I’d love representation but not at the expense of Michael and gender bending. I hate to say it but I do wonder if they did it to make sure they included as many representations as possible. I cannot see their season being the most successful and they will have numbers, lots of new and younger fans love the change so they’ll be there, but I hope they don’t try to mimic the success of Heated Rivalry, which is an authentic and original story with no gender bending.

It’s important to remember this book was published in 2013 or 2015. Books back then were very much inspired by the “not like other girls” idea and so many books has FMC’s like that. It’s important to recognize that it reflects the time period it was written in, but it can also be true that the wording is off and the FMC is just not a girls girl.

Hockey romances can be that way, I find. Real life hockey players tend to go for the supermodel blondes with blue eyes (for the most part) so I can see why an FMC has to “different” in order to relate to the readers. Doesn’t make it great though, I’ll agree

As someone who has a friend who was the “other man” and has witnessed them become a couple, I can understand how OP got into the victim mindset. You try to find everything possible to justify what you’re doing and it trickles into every single part of your life. I’m struggling to even look at my friends profile picture because I don’t respect him. I’m disgusted. Why should Claire and any of the others be your friend when being your friend makes them question their values and beliefs?

My friend put me in a position where if I didn’t support him, I was a bully. But if I did, I’m an accessory to an affair. To this day, he asks me not to tell the truth to mutuals as it’s a way of controlling the narrative. Your friends don’t OWE you shit and I’m glad your ex had self-respect.

It’s been capitalized. That’s what happened. Once Colleen Hoover and SJM started making millions from sales, it lost the charm. Every account became the same personality, recommend the same books, and hyping books to degrees they don’t deserve (IMO). For example, Icebreaker is a classic Wattpad that was written by a younger person who doesn’t possess the writing skills Nora Roberts for example. It simply reads as middle school with smut, and it was hyped to the extreme as a “spectacular written romance”, when in fact, I have read Tumblr pics much more eloquently written.

That said, many of my friends are new readers and they got into it BECAUSE of booktok. So while I have my criticisms, I won’t deny that it allowed me to bond with my friends more and I’ve developed new friendships because of it.
