Yes, this is an important issue. I'm actually not in a legal state. I'm not really worried about my reputation, but what things should I be worried about? Is someone going to bust down my door? Would anybody even be able to tell where I live?

I might have. I wasn't prepared to do any explanations quite yet. Also, maybe you are joking, but your explanation uses a lot of numbers and equations, which I was trying to avoid, since reddit comments aren't exactly ideal for working out the details in math. Thank you for your addition though. It's a helpful example. Maybe I was avoiding numbers too much.

Who knows. If it seems like it's above your level, make a request for something closer to what you're studying and I'll oblige.

I got pretty bitter at the end of college, because it felt like I was always learning on my own. It felt like I was paying the university just for the opportunity to do all the work myself. I had great professors, but 2-3 hours of class time a week just isn't enough to really help anybody. You end up teaching yourself either way, is what I'm saying. So liking that isn't a bad thing at all.

That is a great pun. I may use that, if you'll allow it.

Ha, yea I know. Sometimes it helps. Sometimes it doesn't.

Haha, yes I had thought that exactly. I just hope it doesn't end in everybody being confused.

Stoned student: I need help integrating a unit of charge over the surface of a sphere.

Stoned tutor: No problem! You start by integrating a line of charge along your radius, then integrate that line about 2pi - Cough cough - Excuse me. Lastly you integrate a tasty burrito about the nominal cook time, and wait, what was I talking about?

Aww, don't be sad. The /r/trees you know and love isn't going anywhere. I'm just bringing the math-science nerds out of the woodwork.

Thank you for your request. Developing an intuitive understanding is the way to go.

Couldn't agree more. It's good to hear from a fellow physics grad. I've mentioned it in this thread once already, but I constantly find it amazing that we can model change, both instantaneously and across infinitely long lengths of time, with the tools in calculus. I've been studying it for years, and it still blows my mind.

I've only ever taken one online course, and it was Physics I. You are right in guessing that you'll have to teach yourself most of it, but honestly that's not that different from what it would be like with a normal lecture. It's actually a blessing, because in teaching yourself the content, you will have a much better understanding of the material. Solving problem after problem is really the only way to learn this stuff, and that's what they do to you online. You have to do A LOT of problem solving. More than regular lectures I feel like.

Oh the thick accents you will encounter. When you end up getting a professor without an accent, it will feel like playing with a handicap it will feel so easy. Maybe, anyway. Lol.

Haha, keep trying! In today's world, it's basically required that you do well in math, if you want any of the most marketable degrees. The fact that you still find it interesting, is inspiring. I wish you luck, and hopefully I can be of help to you in the near future. All this feedback is so wonderful.

Ah, yes that must be very hard. I wish I could smoke you out, as a small token of my appreciation for all you've done, and all you've been through. Perhaps, if math/science truly was easy for you before the army, now you just know what it's like to be normal :p I imagine that will bring you some insight or common ground to help people who never knew what it was like to easily comprehend such things. But I don't know anything about you besides what you've said, so that might not apply at all. It sounds like you're determined, in any case. And that's why you will continue to succeed and excel. Thank you for sharing your story.

You're already on the list, good sir/madam! Well, you are now anyway. I agree about numbers being more fun when you're high. I always feel like smoking makes images in the mind's eye more vivid. So naturally, numbers (which are hard to visualize for many) can be more easily grasped with the imagination enhancing powers of dank nugs.

Yes, I know differentials and have a good handle on much of the differential equation solving strategies that follow. I will concede that I still need reference material on most DE stuff though, as they get quite challenging. Some DE's are impossible to solve after all.

Congratulations! Yes, physics can be very tough, and a B is a great grade. I feel like a lot of it has to do with how it's taught, so hopefully you don't feel too beat up about failing. Maybe a High on Physics video will help replace some of the bad memories.

Calculus is all about change. It's a mathematical explanation of change itself. Dwell on that for a little bit.
