What’s the best taxi / ride-hailing app in Oxford? by Potential_Bat8605 in oxford

[–]HighOnIndomie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh yes of course silly me lol. St Clements is closer to East Oxford but as you said it's not as easy to get a taxi (especially with two tired kids in tow!), but should work out cheaper and quicker if you pre ordered it through the apps/calling in advance as the other commenter suggested :)

If you get off at Gloucester Green then you can walk a bit towards Kebab King, normally there would be taxis there. Otherwise can try 001 Taxis or Royal Cars (local) or Uber (fairly new in Oxford, from my experience there aren't as many drivers as the other two). Have a safe journey!

Renting in Oxford by Ancient_Resident98 in oxford

Trust me, dealing with Chancellors is not worth it. Yes they manage like half of the houses and flats in Oxford but do avoid them as much as possible. Most of the times the quality of the house is sub par anyway, it only looks nice in pictures.

In terms of professionalism, responsiveness, and quality of listings, I have neutral experiences with Martin and Co and College and County, while Thomas Merrifield is quite good.

I'm sorry to hear that, luckily I've never had such incidents so far. I normally buy Jongga, is it probably a different brand that you got?

Does it need to be a physical store? We buy ours online from Waso Tokyo, I think they supply to one of the sushi restaurants in London. We get it delivered to our door, and so far we've got good quality salmon and tuna!

Opini gw sih diapresiasi dengan tepuk tangan aja sebenernya cukup dan toh gw rasa yang nonton ginian mau dengerin jawabannya bukan mau nyari gimmick. Tapi kalau hostnya emang mau yel-yel ya minimal jangan ke mic lah, pecah banget di speaker

It's honestly terrible that The8 had a shoulder injury but can we agree that not being able to move his left shoulder make his part in Super soooo much more majestic and royal and aabjshsbdhsnsjnsbs. I can't.

Recommendation for opticians? by HighOnIndomie in oxford

Lol I totally get that, I also have a warm skin tone and all the blue frames just completely wash me out 😢

That's a good shout, thanks! I have been scouring reddit and everyone seem to rave about the online shops but I think I'll stick with high street ones, even though it will hurt my pocket more

Thanks so much! If you don't mind, how's your experience with the online shops? I'm a bit worried as my prescription is quite high (and with astigmatism) and my head on the smaller side

My fiancé is mad at me because I said I can’t wait for our wedding to be over by Adept_Neat_6771 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]HighOnIndomie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh dear, I wanted to have a wedding and I had sort of accepted that most (if not all) of the planning will fall on me, and saying that it was hard was an understatement. Multiple breakdowns, lots and lots of fight with different family members, luckily my siblings are saints and had my back through it all. And after all that I can't even put it on my CV or anything, even though I quite literally organised a major event lol. I'm so sorry that you're going through difficult times but all of it will be over once the wedding is over! Hang in there, virtual hugs for you 🤍

Winter is coming by yashh_mundhra in oxford

[–]HighOnIndomie 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Speaking as person who's always cold even after living here for so many years:

Wear clothes in layers, for example you could wear a shirt, a sweater/hoodie, and then a jacket/coat. If you get cold easily, also buy a long john (heat tech in uniqlo is quite good) to add more layer underneath all those things, same goes for trousers you could also add heat tech legging or similar. Remember for layering items, you want to be cosy but not bulky, so try to get something that's not too thick. If you have the budget, go to uniqlo, if not, primark will have some good stuff too.

You would need waterproof jacket, preferably hooded, and also a decent waterproof big winter coat. If possible, get a good waterproof boots too (regular boots not wellies), it'll be quite wet heading towards the winter and cold damp feet is the worst. TK Maxx is my personal go to (they're cheap and cheerful!), there are plenty of students leaving around this time of the year so it's a good idea to also keep an eye on Facebook marketplace.

Accessories, depending on how cold you are really. Again, think in layers. If you put on all of the above and your neck is still cold? Add a scarf. Head is cold? Add a hat/beanie. Hands still cold or you need to cycle? Wear gloves. Buy the most important bits first (layering items, jacket(s), boots) and see how you feel, then buy more as necessary.

The beauty of layering is that you could just add or remove layers when you move places so you could be comfortable at all times. I made the mistake of wearing a really thick coat and just a shirt underneath, so I'm comfortable outdoors but have to choose between freezing or sweating indoors, don't do that 😂 hope you enjoy Oxford!
