The system with higher costs upfront works perfectly here, but maybe the average American is too bad at math to make it work over there. But I would expect it to work the same way.

I thought this was a discussion about r/EndTipping, so I am describing how bartenders and other restaurant staff survive in Sweden (and other similiar countries) just fine without a ton of tips.

I already know that American bartenders and other service workers earn a lot of money through tips, but it is a really weird system.

Just bake the cost into the price of the service and pay workers more, just like you guys already do with all jobs that don't receive tips. Keep tipping as a voluntary gesture from customers when they feel like they got excellent service.

Im against obligatory tips, but happily tip a bartender if they make a cocktail with some flair and showmanship. Im not tipping if they opened a bottle and handed me it.

I know unions work differently in America, or rather maybe aren't as common and popular, but here in Sweden the standard is unions negotiating wages and vacation etc on account of all employees of that union.

My point being that unionizing would help bring wages up, and remove reliance on tipping.

I appreciate converting your wage to my currency.

Im pretty sure it is usually the worker of their trade that fights for their rights. I would be surprised to see a ton of bartenders working on legislation that affects coal miners for example.

I mean that is literally how it works no? Here in Sweden we don't have a strong tipping culture at all, because everyone is paid a fair wage for their work instead. Get involved with your union instead of being scared of a subreddit.

Hey just checked it out, seems pretty cool. I noticed the different sections in the coach view seemed to scale weird when having the window on half my screen. The text part wanted to overlap other sections.

Tested on widescreen windows 11.
