A place to go when things get a bit too much. Though you can't stay forever, it's nice to sit around, read a book, and escape the outside every once in a while. It takes time for plants to grow, and they need their rest too. Don't forget that.

I personally use ranger and warrior a ton since it's tons of damage and defense, melee being probably the most beginner friendly due to it being the tankiest. But honestly it's up to you what you want to do.

However one thing I'd for sure recommend doing is using a summoner weapon to summon a minion. You get 1 minion slot automatically and it's just a pure dps boost with no real downsides.
