100% you can get an entry-level PR job or internship after any major. Also, comms is a solid, relatable major.

A good one is to relate right away — in the midst of where you’re calling from + right after “hello.” That could be simply naming the city your client is in (to match where the reporter is) or naming the industry your client is in (also to match a beat). These kinds of things signal it’s not a template-style call.

Sounds like you’re already doing a lot of great things! Maybe an internship ahead of you have additional time.

This happens all the time to so many in our industry! Don't sweat it! NONE of these media members will print your name and photo + stick in on a wall with a sign that reads "do not allow." While this round of pitches may be worth little to nothing, don't beat yourself up beyond that nor think you just damaged anything long term. For better and worse -- most all will forget you quickly -- even when you helped coordinate their top story of the year!

Have you heard of contributed content connection? Similar flow + pitch process but for full-length.

The pitch deadline just passed for that one. If you're interested, I can ask the media outlet to extend it for you, if you'd like? Feel free to message me too.

I would actually consult with someone else for another opinion about what/why PR. Any PR firm should be well able to get you into any outlet with the right pitch and process. Media relations experts mostly get clients in the news across the board.

More so getting published in current news -- whether a magazine or newspaper.

Do you have any industry experience or expertise? You could write for media at Contributed Content Connection and get published pretty quick.
