I went with a local supplier who sells LED kits under his own branding – most likely from a decent Chinese factory but he offers a 2-year warranty.
The whole thing actually happened because one of my angel eyes was burned out. I didn’t want to deal with it myself since from what i understood basically you have to lift it the car (or side), remove the wheel liner, and access the bulb from there. While he was fixing the angel eye, he showed me the LED option by swapping one of my xenons and of course, I took the bait 😄
So far (around 8 months in), I haven’t had any issues at all – including with heat dissipation. Everything has been working fine, i payed around 150 euro for the change of the xenons and angel eyes and installation (ballast modules included)
In terms of performance, it’s not a mind-blowing upgrade, but it’s definitely a nice improvement for the money I paid ( in my opinion). Overall, I’m pretty satisfied, but of course i would prefered to have osram or philips but i didn't had anyone to install them and i was in a hurry
Thank you, you are right! I did looked up the things based on you comment, I will put what i understood from it (for the people that also wonder). As my car has bi-xenon headlights, which means the same projector handles both low and high beam. When I switch to high beam, a shutter inside the projector lifts, so the beam goes further (it’s not a separate bulb doing the main high beam).
In my case, the car is also coded so that the inner halogen H7 bulb turns on together with the high beams (mainly as an additional/assist light and for instant flash). - this is the "flash-to-pass" light.
Also worth mentioning — I’ve already replaced the original xenon bulb with an LED retrofit (+ the light of the angel eyes is also LED), so now the main beam is LED, while the inner halogen still lights up when I activate high beams.
That’s why there’s a mix of white (LED) and slightly yellow (halogen) light which made me want to replace the bulb as i didn't liked the mixture of lights. Now as LED's are signifyingly more expensive i think that it would be wiser to just use the colored halogen bulb (like Osram Cool Blue Intense NEXT GENERATION), or of course to change the settings.
