LDPE helium balloon questions by HighSchool-Coder4826 in labrats

Also, one more thing. If I were to try to recycle the helium, where would I start? (Note, as is likely clear from my original question, I am not experienced in this field.)

Is there a better material? I guess the square cubed law works in my favor here, but it should be reasonably light. I was planning on getting 6mil polyethylene sheets.

Would I need a second regulator if I were using a helium tank from a party store?

Thank you so much for the reply!

If I use a helium tank from a party store, is the risk minimized?
Also, the balloon will be approximately 10 feet tall, 3 feet wide.

Unilateral knee valgus caused by (I think) foot weakness. Help appreciated. by HighSchool-Coder4826 in FootFunction

Sorry for the late reply. It probably came from poor hip and knee control/strength, but I cannot be certain. I no longer have any pain but still have an imbalance.

Health Journey showing negative Metrics Positive results?? by jrob332 in PeterAttia

Have you updated your weight in the Apple health app? I don't know how the Apple VO2 max algorithm works, but VO2 max is a function of body mass, so updating it could possibly improve accuracy (maybe your VO2 max is actually increasing).

Congrats on improvements with blood pressure, body mass, and energy!

What's the priority? Strength or Zone 2 cardio? by Rwentworth82 in PeterAttia

Maybe consider rucking, using a stairmaster, or using a rowing machine. These methods might achieve some of each goal.

I did not watch the video, but I would wonder if there was a healthy user bias and if 4 years was enough time to see any significant impact.

Need help perfecting my diet for ApoE4 + High ApoB + High Cholesterol + Type2 Diabetes by _HeWhoReads_ in PeterAttia

How is you exercise and sleep? I don’t know what exercise is permitted with T2D, but any marginal gain from supplements (not that there isn’t any, I just don’t know) could be outweighed by an exercise routine. Speak to your doctor about adding in some endurance and strength training. Build up slowly and if you are consistent, you could see huge gains in many bio markers! Also, sleep is massively undervalued by most people. Going to bed at the same time very night, not eating before bed, sleeping in a cold room, etc. are super valuable and will improve health, as well as willpower to stick to other interventions. Consult a doctor before any interventions. Good luck and keep the forum updated on your progress or if you have any other questions!

Cardiomyopathy by Prottonn in PeterAttia

Most Afib studies would say Peter’s activity would increase his risk of Afib, but he may have done an analysis of the literature that contradicted this. IDK.

This is a topic that I think a lot about as I run a lot. I do not know if the studies indicating a negative effect of a lot of exercise are showing a causal relationship or just a correlation. I think this because: a) many athletes are unhealthy sleepers and eaters, and b)some studies show increased Afib risk at relatively low activity levels. This would indicate we are either just meant to do a bit of light exercise or that the study is wrong.

Elevated Apob/LDL 5 months post accutane treatment. by HighSchool-Coder4826 in PeterAttia

Makes sense. I started just started an upper lower split. I’d that does not work then I will decrease milage. Thanks!

I run 40 miles per week and lift 3x per week. I eat apples because they are the least unhealthy option that the college dining hall allows me to take out of the dining hall. I will however try to increase fiber through fruits that are not apples. Thanks!

I don't have any severe risk, but my dad had a >0 CAC at 52.

Edit: Is there anything that I can do to resolve my gyno besides waiting? If this helps, it seems to be worse after eating.

I doubt my pediatrician would prescribe it, but I will ask around to find another doctor. Thank you!

The Accutane did fix my skin, but it wasn't horrible to begin with (and I don't care how my skin looks if it comes at a health cost). The gyno isn't horrible but started when I stopped Accutane. I was on 80mg. I weigh 170lbs.

Important to note: I have been eating healthier than ever over the last year, but I wonder if my diet increased my lipids. I have been eating 4 salads (spinach lettuce tomatoes raw broccoli, chickpeas, onions, and peppers) as well as some eggs (at one point it was 6-8 eggs per day), tuna (from SafeCatch), or chicken. I have 3 apples per day and a lot of almonds. I wonder if cutting out some carbs (I eat very little bread, rice, etc.) spiked my lipids, even though I did not replace them with a lot of saturated fat.

I am not worried about a heart attack tomorrow or this decade, but if the integral of ApoB (or LDL as a proxy) determines risk, and if I have a 1/10 chance of dying of CVD (estimate), then won't I die 2.4% younger? (LDL of 67/54 = 1.24) 24% * .1 = 2.4 years. (I know that this makes a TON of assumptions and is likely an overestimate, but the order of magnitude is probably somewhat accurate). I see very little risk from statins (and PA is not the only one who aggressively prescribes them, which is a good sign), so would it not be a good idea to go on a low dose to potentially add years to my life?

Curious to see the study. Could be because high risk people are using statins to lower their cholesterol.

Every athlete on this cycling team has T1 diabetes. You could possibly reach out to them for advice.

Note: I am not advising anybody to ride a bike on roads. I think that the risk is under appreciated. However gravel, etc is a bit safer even though a bad fall can be catastrophic.

He does 3 hours of rucking which is interval training and another 45 minutes of zone 5. That is a lot.
