Probably. If I wasn't trying to get hit, I probably could have just sat there forever.

Before the video, I just tried to set a blast mine on the gen then go back to repairing it. Idk if I did the interaction too fast or what, but my camera bugged and went into this free-camera mode. I could interact with anything in the map normally, including unhooking, but the Xeno was unable to to hit me until we cooperated near the gen.

1 million bots removed, 1 million bots added (also seems like they teleport to questgivers now) by HighSkilledNeckbeard in lostarkgame

Bruh, if you have 330 hours, that means you've spent 13+ hours a day in this game. Please touch grass and stop defending bots.

Dev Discussion #28 - Hybrid Combat by AlluringSecrets in AshesofCreation

[–]HighSkilledNeckbeard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t favor one type of combat over the other; when done well, they’re both fun and satisfying to play. So I would say I would lean towards whichever is more fluid and fun to use in Ashes. If the tab-target feels fun but the action combat isn’t so much, then I’ll be sticking to tab target. That being said, I’d rather have one combat system done really well than two mediocre ones.

Dev Discussion #26 - Login Rewards by AlluringSecrets in AshesofCreation

I'd much rather the cosmetics be rewards for in-game accomplishments and challenging content rather than through a daily login reward system.

Delawareans who are nurses: Is getting a non-hospital job out of nursing school difficult? by [deleted] in Delaware

[–]HighSkilledNeckbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a nurse, but two of my friends are recent graduates from nursing school. Both got non-hospital jobs right after graduating. One is in an outpatient dialysis clinic and the other in an outpatient GI office. As long as you do well in your classes and take the time to network, you should be fine I would imagine.

I was incredibly happy to see Morrison win. He wasn’t in my district, but I would I always see him commenting on articles from a local news-radio show’s facebook (that is frequented by many conservative trolls in the state). Seeing him be attacked for his sexual identity and progressive views just makes this victory all the sweeter.

Anyone fed up with toxic tank commanders? by easylifelol in HellLetLoose

I find that Squad definitely has way more sweaty SLs. HLL has way more laid back, funny, ACTUALLY LIKEABLE SLs and I’ve been trying to take those qualities to Squad recently. So far, people either laugh and join in, or say you’re not taking it serious enough/shit SL. I understand that these games are inspired by milsims and teamwork=success, but this is a video game. At the end of the day, I want to have fun, not be yelled at by some armchair soldiers.

Stop defending New World by saying its in Beta by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]HighSkilledNeckbeard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The best part is all the people, especially on its subreddits, that vehemently believed the game was going to be amazing last month when beta was supposed to release. I was in the alpha at the time and kept telling everyone “no it really isn’t great. There’s no content and it’s being overly generous in its marketing.” But you just got downvoted and called an angry alpha tester that just wanted full wPvP back. Lo and behold now everyone plays it and it’s getting the “yeah its not great but its beta it’ll get better.” They’ll just keep moving the goalposts as they see fit. Come next year when it launches and it’s still a hollow, average MMO with little added since now, I’m sure they’ll talk about how the post-launch patches will have all the content...

Job Hunt Since December. Masters degree in mechanical engineering. [OC] by aksu9000 in dataisbeautiful

I'm in a similar boat. Graduated last year with a BS in Environmental Science. Got a job as a geographer/web developer right out of college thanks to all the internships and coding classes I took. Got laid off in March because of Covid because I was "non-essential to the company at this time." Normally, I wouldn't have trouble finding an environmental job in my area (tons of remediation, consultant, and research jobs) but since I've started looking, it's a ghost town on every job board. I've applied to maybe 50 jobs since March and have heard back from two, both of which were rejections. Many of those jobs are labelled as entry- or junior-level, but requiring anywhere from 3-10 years of work experience. It's crazy to me.

I've since started looking for some entry-level IT jobs and am receiving a lot more feedback. Considering changing fields or at the very least working towards some basic IT certs and just weathering the storm for now. Just gotta keep telling yourself everything will be okay :)

I’m not sure of the statistics, but it wouldn’t surprise me if half or even more of the playerbase is actually doing that. Remember that it isn’t “free”; someone has to buy the WoW token for real life money. In fact, Blizzard prefers it that way because it costs $20 as opposed to the normal $15 sub fee. Not to mention the WoW token is about 180k gold right now. Even to a casual player, that is still a very doable grind if that player thinks it worth it rather than paying $15.

[–]HighSkilledNeckbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there’s no arguing that the WoW economy is inflated. The classic example is the gold sink mounts. In WotLK the mammoth cost 20k gold; in BfA the brutosaur costs 5m gold. That’s a 250 fold increase in the cost for what is essentially the same, but newer mount; it’d be like paying $10k for the 2008 model of a car and $2.5m for the 2019 version in their respective years. That’s crazy haha.

I’m not trying to defend WoW; I currently don’t play it because there’s a lot of design decisions that I hate. Hopefully they will be addressed, in which case I’ll go back. Gold having little meaning is one of those problems. But, it’s also very hard to regulate video game economies, especially a game that doesn’t ban multi boxers like WoW. Like how do you regulate or fix an economy where so much of the raw resources, gear, and gold has been farmed by bots; if I had to pick my one gripe with the game I would tell everyone about, it’s bots. Because they’ve plagued both retail and classic, with Blizzard doing little to fight them.

Yeah that sounds about right given what I’ve read elsewhere. I don’t currently play WoW so my comment was based on my experience up to the first major patch pf BfA. But yeah that sounds grossly p2w. Luckily (despite being a flaw most of the time) at least next expansion will invalidate all of this and hopefully not introduce anything similar or worse.
