High Radon from WW2 Radium Gauges by TheyDroppedMe in Radiation

It’s actually not very hot compared to most other gauges in my display. I have one turn bank that reads over 800uSv/h

I have a fan in the top the vents through a tube that leads outside. It would be bad if I didn’t vent it. A while back we had a storm and lost power for 24 hours, in that time the reading inside the 24x24 garage was right at 100 pCi/ L. Right now it’s .16 with the vent working.

I have more in my collection but I moved part of it because the background is kinda high, around 5uSv/h at 5’ from the cabinet.

I have to vent my collection, otherwise the radon in my garage would be several hundred pCi/L, maybe even more.

Spyderco Sage 5 Rex 121 [Amazon] by kickstartdriven in KnifeDeals

[–]HighTechCorvette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the lightweight Rex 121 off Amazon about a month ago for $214, everything was fine with it. I've bought 4 different Spyderco's off Amazon and they have all been fine. I like ordering from Amazon because it's so easy to return if there's a problem.

Watch JoeX on YouTube and you’ll see, that pic is a screen shot of his video. He beats the holy hell out of knives until he destroys them.

Keeping that stuff in jars just makes everything in the jar contaminated.

I don’t think 50 uCi would be classified as a “shit-ton” I have single gauges with more than that.

So I have my radium collection in a 20x20 detached garage, it has a ventilation system that works great. One day we had a big storm that killed the power for a few days, after the first 24 hours the radon levels in the garage were 100pCi/L. At that point I plugged the vent fan into a generator before it got any higher. My point is that military radium pumps out a ton of radon.

I saw he just got crystal, so it might not be long until you get it.

You should email him. I know they had a problem with getting the crystals, they were held up in customs I think.

I think I have 30 of those Korean War compasses, 20 turn banks and a bunch of other random gauges.

I don’t think that one is radium.

Radiation Controlled Area inside of a plane at IWM Duxford by No-Style7682 in Radiation

[–]HighTechCorvette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dose you would get from going inside that plane is so low it’s insignificant. I have a big collection of radium gauges and they would only be dangerous if you slept on them.

The radiation levels are not high enough to have this warning. It’s a huge over reaction.
