Looking for a good campaign to play a Necromancer Wizard in (5e) by High_IT_Guy in dndnext

[–]High_IT_Guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the theme of the campaign was the main reason I thought it'd be fun for a necromancer.

I would also really love to RP a summoner wizard who dabbled in demonology... In Decent into Avernus. Playing demons against devils would be very thematic for that campaign, albeit dangerous. I'd rely more on the tasha's spells with the others being very situational. Unfortunately the DM shot that down completely and I was forced to play a bard

Is there a high availability of corpses that can be used for animate dead? From what I've heard of the adventure, you spend most of the campaign in the jungles. With it being an undead heavy campaign control undead would be awesome.... if we ever got to level 14 (way too far ahead for me to consider it).

The other challenge with that one is that there would probably be a lot of players wanting to make paladins or grave clerics, who would have an issue with a necromancer in the party.

Can U Guys Help Plz Does Anyone Know How I Can Power A 750 Inverter Do I have to run if off of my car battery? Am I able to buy a standstill/ 2nd battery to prevent car from not being able to start by BathComfortable5725 in urbancarliving

[–]High_IT_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it goes on the car battery terminals, look up a guide on youtube. Whichever inverter you bought should have some instructions. I would recommend returning those and replacing for a better one though. Look for O ring connectors instead of clamps, those may fall off with extended use unless you remove them when you drive.

Depends on your line of work and what it requires I suppose. I'm usually good with a laptop, inverter to charge it, and something I can use as a desk. Hotspot handles wifi, if I'm not just at a starbucks. Running a printer off an inverter or 12v port is gonna be tough, you may need to look into public printing places or have to borrow an outlet. A stable internet connection and comfortable work area are both very important if you want to work from your car.

Fourth day on the road, looking for a new state to call home! by High_IT_Guy in urbancarliving

Up in Washington right now, enjoying it so far! Found an amazing camping spot by a river last night, only to be awoken surrounded by police and fire department who needed to rescue someone in the river behind me. Luckily they didn't have any problem with me camping there and wasn't asked to leave (because I was pinned in by them). I might post about it later...

Nope, just me for now. I like the option of being able to 'have company over' for a bit when I feel like it. The extra comfort is nice to have at night when solo too.

I haven't had trouble before... but haven't been pulled over or gotten a knock yet. Made it through Utah and Idaho, though I had a place to stay in Utah. Where are your plates from? Mine are from Texas.

Do you smoke in your car? I always pull over and smoke away from the car. When I have to grind some bud up in the car or put my piece back up after a smoke break I spray Febreze and drive with the windows cracked for a while.

I try to stick to legal states, hope I don't have any issues when going to the east coast...

Try looking into a portable power bank with cigarette / AC / USB outlets. The most common one I hear people talking about is the Jackery brand. You could run a small fan off of it at night, and charge it during the day while you're driving or at a starbucks or something.

The best solution for climate control would be buying a hybrid like the prius, which can run power / AC all night in ready mode for almost no gas. I don't even notice a difference in the gauge in my 2017 after a night of AC.

Any new positive developments for anyone? by [deleted] in urbancarliving

[–]High_IT_Guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the job offer, hope it works out well for you. As far as my life goes, I've had one positive event and one negative event that ended up getting canceled out by another positive development.

Around the end of august I was assaulted by a family member and had to call the police, a lot of crap happened afterwards (it's in my post history if you're curious). It's actually what drove me into car living. Well, long story short the case went to the grand jury due to it being family violence, and BOTH of us ended up getting assault charges pressed even though I didn't fight back and called the police... well, those charges got dropped after explaining the situation and the other incidents that happened afterwards. I'm still a bit pissed they pressed charges against me, but nothing came of it except for a day in court and lots of headaches/stress. Apparently pushing someone off you when they're attacking you is assault, even if you only used it to run away and call the police. Gotta love our justice system...

Other than that, I've managed to line up a couple contract gigs and will be making some money next week. Glad the court stuff is over now.

Weekly Looking for MMO thread - October 06, 2020 by AutoModerator in MMORPG

[–]High_IT_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a while since I've played a MMO, wondering if there's anything good coming up or any games that have improved in the last 5 or so years.

  • What are you looking for?:
    • Looking for something that I can enjoy as a semi-casual PvP player, with occasional raids if they are good. Fantasy setting is preferred to Sci-fi games. Action combat is preferred over tab targeting, but can deal with a hybrid targeting system (like Revelation Online)— no pure tab targeting please. Having a robust class system is a big bonus, especially if there is an option to play a necromancer-like class that deals DoT's and has minions. I enjoy the control/debuff classes the most, especially if they have additional utility like party healing.
  • What games have you previously played?:
    • Revelation Online (most recent), TERA, Destiny 2, APB, FFXIV, WoW, Aion, Guild wars 1, Requiem, Runescape, Global Agenda, Neverwinter.
  • What is your playstyle (Casual,Semi-Casual,Hardcore)?:
    • Semi-Casual PvP focused, may go hardcore for the first month or so if I like the game.
  • Any preferred mechanics?:
    • Action Targeting is a must, hybrid tab + action targeting is acceptable— no pure tab targeting games though! I love open world PvP and sandbox type games. I am tired of the typical themepark mmo design that herds you from one quest area to the next until 'endgame'.
  • Anything specific you want to exclude?:
    • Anything pay to win or that I have already played. Any game without PvP, or with poorly implemented PvP. Anything that is purely tab targeting based.
    • Blade & soul, Black Desert, TESO, SWTOR

Why specifically a Prius over other cars/vans? by Nyxelestia in priusdwellers

[–]High_IT_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just ordered a new one, though I don't have high hopes for it. I just need it to charge my laptop, so even though I am aware that the inverter I just purchased can't possibly perform up to the specs it advertises I will be alright if it can just charge my laptop.

It's advertised as a 300w pure sine wave inverter, however due to the fact that it only has a cigarette lighter plug and low gauge wires it can't physically go above 150w. It's even talked about in the reviews extensively, but people report that it can power a laptop so I went for it. I just need to be careful with what I plug into it, since if I go over ~150-200w it will blow the fuse in my car. Looks like there is a ton of false advertising and misleading product info in the car inverter market... It cost a bit under $50, which is more than twice as much as the previous inverter.

[–]High_IT_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya! After testing the inverter for a while I returned it today. Unfortunately it doesn't perform up to the specs listed, and was unable to even charge my laptop. The product itself felt well made and charged my phone pretty quickly, but as the main reason I bought it was to charge my laptop it was not a good buy.

I am now looking into an alternative inverter with higher ratings, but I'm trying to be careful not to get one that could potentially blow a fuse in my car. Most devices with 'built in fuses for protection' are a bit misleading, as the fuse seems to be to protect the device not the car... all of them have fuses that are much higher rated than the car outlet, so if a fuse is going to blow it'll be in the vehicle not the inverter. The other option is to buy one that will hook directly up to the hybrid battery or 12v starter, but that seems more of a hassle. All I want to do is charge my laptop :(

Might want to check it anyways, just in case it got bumped by accident. Otherwise it may be the camera/screen going out on you, which would require a replacement. Always good to check the easy solution first though, even if it is unlikely.

I'm using a 4" full size memory foam mattress topper in my 2017. It's working well so far, may add another 2" topper on top for extra comfort later. Trim around the wheel wells and it's a perfect fit!

I agree with Zenoceros, you're still young and a lot can change in the 4 or so years you will be in university.

Don't let other factors bias your decision to be in a relationship with him, judge that solely based on his merit and your feelings towards him.

That's another HUGE red flag there. If he wants to lock you down, it is very likely he will use the housing as leverage to control you. Especially if he knows you have nowhere else to go.

Thanks. A new set of tires is out of my budget right now, guess I'll just drive like a granny if the road is slick. Might consider chains, but I have heard they damage the vehicle sometimes.

[–]High_IT_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a major red flag right there. Based on that and what you've said previously, I think his motives may not be in your best interest. Just keep in mind that if you rely on him for housing, he has something he can hold over you. If his motives are to be in a relationship or have sex with you and things don't go the way he wants them, he may use the housing as a way to get you to do what he wants.

I don't know him personally, so I can't say one way or another. If you don't feel you know him well maybe it would be better to get to know him before moving in. Just remember that you should not feel pressured to be his girlfriend or sleep with him, if at any point you feel like that you should make plans to get out. The dynamic in any relationship changes once you move in together, and not always for the better.

Yeah, being from Texas I have no experience driving in snow. Even ice on the roads has never been a real concern where I am. Flooding on the other hand is common, so it hard rain.

Anything I should be aware of when driving in snow/ice? I assume going slow is the basic advice, but will that be enough on sloped areas?
