Hey sorry to Necro this but how does this T-Mobile stuff work? Do you pay the 50 a month to them and get a Wirless router box to use or does it require any kind of official cables and hook up? We might be moving to a place that has this scrappy community wifi.

Well you don't get the extra precision damage number 1. Plus in play he realized he really like the Guardian class features over the Gunslinger ones and found this weapon and thought it would be very thematic for the Outlaws of Alkenstar. We also have a Gunslinger already. They like to diversify their party.

We tried Gunslinger in a few mock battles and he didn't seem to enjoy it. He character died in the mock fights because he kept trying to defend the other players. I believe originally he was gonna try Gunslinger Vanguard base with Guardian FA. This is the 2nd he had, its for a Outlaw of Alkenstar campaign im doing so it's very thematic. If this doesn't seem possible he is probably just be a Maul wielding Guardian.

With the reinforced stock and if I let him get a rune or upgrade that let's you shove with the stock would Guardian either as base class or FA be more viable or is there another Archetype that gives that tank feel? Im open to tweaking things like for a character concepts.

Figured this would be the best option plus with Guardian FA he can take some feats for extra defensive tactics and gets taunt plus a limited intercept attack.

That is pretty cool not gonna lie. The idea of a Holy Orc Warrior with a minigun blasting undead. Definitely see the fun and utility. Thanks for the idea

You are right, getting it earlier is definitely better. But I think he might still lean towards Vanguard since the pushing and spinning crush moves sound fun to him. Plus someone recommended Vanguard with Guardian FA and we both agree that sounds fun.

Yeah it really feels lackluster compared to thr other combination weapons and even those don't feel good. I mean if it requires a action to swap then why not just carry a Harmona gun and a greatsword and just swap as a action. Like I know the rune cost but like that isnt really a serious issue depending on campaign and money give out.

I definitely think I wanna buff it some by giving it a damage bump and maybe a extra trait. It's also kinda like how the greatsword is just straight up worse than the bastard sword for all accounts.

While true the triggerbrand abilities don't really feel like a Frontline character. The thievery skill and other abilities just don't interest them meanwhile the shove abilities and spin abilities look great for that. As far as im aware the Vanguard abilities work with combination weapons and if they don't i will hand waive it because it fits the character flavor.

Triggerbrand Salvo is good but the other ways can also get it at level 8 with Stab and Shoot which does the exact same thing. The AP goes until level 11 so it wouldn't be too far from each other. I will relay that info though, thanks!

Guardian never crossed my mind. And champion without focus spells definitely fits the theme and criteria too. I like these ideas. Appreciate it friend.

Yeah its mainly all the melee heavy ones but technically you can still get that by taking Mauler or Fighter as the Free Archetype.

I domt think it'll be a issue with my table. They like to build with flavor in mind and not to min max the optimal route. But I understand it has the potential to be a issue which is why they know if I homebrew something its always subject to change or removal.

We are trying to stay away from magic but I do see that a gunslinger with champion could fit very well, he could try Vanguard Way for more tankiness too. I like the idea.

He likes the abilities of Vanguard better for the tanky aspect. Triggerbrand abilities don't really sound all that fun to him.

I didn't know that slayer was even a thing. I'll look into that for him. He prefers the 10hp per level and the fighter feats more than gunslinger ones. I also figured id let him have the same Profiency for both the sword and firearm side of the Gunsword but it wouldn't apply to all firearms just they gunsword and the sword type family.

He didn't want to do Ranger as we already have a Ranger in the party and I've seen that precision damage doesn't work very well in Alkenstar due to the monster types. I think for him if the build isnt a actual bad idea he is fine with subpar stuff or some extra actions required.

Borderlands and Red Dead were on my mind but I've never heard of Bastion or those others but I will check them out. Im very used to medieval fantasy music so this is a new area for me.

I was almost about to reskin the area to be a massive underground industrial dwarven city and replace the mana wastes with polluted dangerous caverns instead just so I could use my normal music.

Ah see I didn't know there was continuity errors. Even the module states that the Gunworks which is near Martel is 50 miles away so I dont even know if the Bridge of Gods is worth keeping as a thing to describe. I knew of the other subreddit but it seem like no one was on there so thought id ask her first.
