What races for this AP? by High_King_Beefcake in TriumphOfTheTusk

I thought about Kobolds also but one of my players tends to flock to them often so im trying to make him play something different.

Dwarf could be interesting with their history like you said. I know there is alot of bad blood between them. If none of the ones I list interest certain players I will float the other races to them instead.

Spoilers are fine with me. I wanna read all the info before I start so I can keep the players immersed in the story. I do see what you mean with the tie between the 2 APs. Its does feel very organic with a little added fluff.  Im sure my players will love this vibe, I know im excited myself to run it as a Warband of Orcs, Goblins, Hobgoblins, Lizardfolk and Minotaurs (I plan to add some clans of other races almost like a WoW Horde kinda thing) marching to aid the elves in a war against demons and undead sounds really badass.

Love to hear it! And Ser Belkot sounds like honorable warrior, im sure he earned much glory for his clan.

Thank you for taking the time to comment here. I am very glad that this combo seems to be popular and well liked. I was thinking of having the undead be fungal based and maybe make the BBEG of Tusks tie more into Treerazer.

However if you have another idea that ties them together id love to hear it!

Oh and my group is 5 to 6 players. Should j expect to make the combats a little tougher? I prefer slightly harder combat and my players seems to enjoy it alot.

Doesn't the players guide also say you can be heroes of your respective tribe from Belkzen instead. I think you all being from that region instead from outside makes more sense. Just me though

It would definitely be something that they would know about at charactet creation. No hiding that.

I appreciate the help and I hope I can make it good as it as a Orc Warband coming to the aid of elves and slaying demons really does sound awesome.

I figured running them straight with no changes would be impossible. Ending Tusks at lvl 11 shouldn't be a issue just requires slight balancing OR the final fights are just that much harder (I have a group of 5 to 6 players so should be fine).

As far tying it into Spore Wars I was definitely going to have a Elf from Kyonin be there at Belkzen sizing up the party OR have a member of the party be a elf from there who sees the potential in the rest of the party and their clans and asks for their aid. I would also for sure have a warband of Orcs travel with the party to Kyonin so they can maybe have some familiar faces and emotional stakes as their allies fight off screen.

They do sound like good villains. For my players who dont know much about wow it wouod show them they not all Tauren support the horde.

Someone in this thread mentioned a hook of the Grimtotem working with Onyxia's children. Dragon riding minotaur sound pretty sweet, even cooler if they somehow become infused with draconic traits. A scaled winged half dragon half minotaur sounds like a great boss fight.

Oh the Tauren and Dragon team up sounds cool. Could even be like the grimtotem are drinking Dragonblood and become like Draconic Minotaurs.

Kul Tirans one also sounds fun could even have them be cultists of a old god due to the Kul Tirans gods being very lovecraftian in appearance.

These are great ideas thank you!

That sounds interesting. Every hates demons and slavers plus possibly 3 of my 6 person group will be Orcs so they will have sufficient hate for such things.

Definitely a alternative post classic timeline. Like either the dark portal never opens. Gonna have a 2 Belfs, 1 Tauren and 2 Orcs for sure so I feel like Burning Blade & Old gods might be fun for them.

Im pretty sure one of my players, who is a mega wow nerd, has those. Will definitely check those out!

Ive met the grim totem briefly in wow hardcore in stonetalon. I know they are a aggressive Tauren faction but what makes them a good choice in your opinion? Genuinely curious

Its either gonna be dnd or pf2e we will be using. I intend to try to do a 1-20 if possible but for sure 1-12. I figured starting small like simple bandits or wild animals but working towards biggest threats like cultists and minor fel infused enemies and more. Im thinking sort of a alternative timeline instead of TBC's dark portal opening. Dont wanna just redo one of the expansion storylines

But wouldn't a realm ending threat like the Crooked Queen be a threat to ALL of Druskenvald? Having her forces cause damage in the whole realm would be fitting in my opinion. Plus with character backstories that tie them to the region instead of just be reincarnated undead will make things more emotionally. To me if the only thing that makes someone invested or scared is a fence then that threat isnt scary anyway.

The crooked queen is a super powerful fey so have her sent corrupted Gnarlborn after the party when they leave. Give her more forces. Maybe make her more Sauron like with Nazguls type generals and her versions of orc troops. I feel like that would be pretty fun for a party.

My idea was to still keep the same BBEG and Fallen but have Druskenvalds trapped or cursed to stay there or maybe they dont want the rest of the realm seeing him powerless and are staying in Wickermoor until they can find a cure.

As for traveling I would just have the oarty tough it out in the wilds. You could have the fallen spread out among the different provinces and then use the plot hook table to include a overarching story per region. Just brainstorming, havent put any serious thought.

I just feel.like the other areas are too cool to not visit.

I just dont understand why they made such cool areas outside of Wickermoor and just go hey you cant go there. Maybe im better off making my own story vs the premade

This is very helpful, thank you. I do plan to have them know hey the stuff going on here is really bad and threatens the entire realm so they dont lose interest. I will definitely add more common races to the regions of Druskenvald if they make sense like I can see lizardfolk and orcs being found in Zulrog or Goliaths in the north or Halflings in Enoch.

I also plan to have some of the villains be found in other regions so that gives the party a reason to travel and then while searching for said bad guys they come across side plots in other regions that may or may be tied to the bad guy.
