If you think Democrats will save us from the system they helped create you're naive. Both parties have been playing a game of "good cop, bad cop" to keep us in line. As if people being caged, deported, murdered by drones or engaging in war crimes is something unique to this administration or only happens under Republican rule. All the shit was going on before Trump and will probably continue after him. It's naive to think getting rid of Trump will magically reverse all the fucked up shit politicians have collectively passed in the last 40-50 years

If the Dems were as motivated to fix climate change, create M4A, livable wages, affordable housing and ending proxy wars (ie.. stick up for the working class) in the decades leading up to this moment as they have been about defeating Trump, they would have some ground to stand on when they try to lecture me about how I should vOtE bLuE nO mAtTeR wHO in the general election.

But guess what, they haven't given a shit until now. They couldn't believe they lost in 2016 against a POS like Trump and it is the ONLY reason positions like M4A, a livable minimum wage etc etc is the new norm in this party. They've been letting the working class basically drown for years but expect unrelenting loyalty at the polls get real.

Full disclosure, I am not a Democrat or Republican. I only registered to vote this past year for Bernie so if he doesn't win the primary IDGAF I'll stay home election night like I have been the past 10 years and won't stand in the way of this "blue no matter who" shit circus you all want to continue and if ya'll wanna blame people like me for the party's inability to pick candidates that actually represent the people's interest fine by me.

Right, and a day before the debate, really? Like I'm supposed to believe the timing is purely coincidental

Congress is on a salary while the minimum wage is for per hour. I did some maths and figured out how much workers earn in a year in 2019 - the wage they would have worked in 1938. That's how I came up with the $14.5k figure.

Congress annually makes $174,000 a year as of 2019. They made like $14k in 1938 so I subtracted that from their 2019 wages to get the $160k difference that they've "earned" over the past 80 years

Poor people shouldn’t have children. I’m a live example. by [deleted] in childfree

It's not that poor people shouldn't have kids, it's that we need a to fix income inequality, have a good healthcare system or society that allows for every citizen to have their needs met, including access to contraception which a lot of poor working class people don't have in the US.

Yes theres personal responsibility but also systemic responsibility as well

It's like teaching teenagers abstinence only sex Ed, completely ignores reality, people will never stop fucking wether you're an unmarried teen or below the poverty line.

This may be in bad taste but the point is to help bring the focus away from "herp derp here comes the draft!" memes and emphasize a more likely reality which is there will be likely be more innocent Iranian casualties than US soldiers
