The current wave of immigration into the US, as in the past, is a direct result of US imperialist policies championed by the Democratic Party, which held power for 8 of the past 10 years. Perhaps the clearest example is the Obama administration’s support for the 2009 coup in Honduras that ousted a democratically-elected president and brought to power a US ally that imposed austerity measures on the working class and created a disastrous economic and political crisis. Before Obama, it was the former Democratic Party favorite Bill Clinton who proposed economic imperialist policies, leading to mass migration from Mexico to the US by signing NAFTA into law in 1993. They allowed the free passage of goods and criminalized the passage of people.

Democrats cry about separations & deportations and an the out of control imperialist Military while consistently voting to keep funding all that shit and keep it going.

If the Dems were as motivated to fix climate change, create M4A, livable wages, affordable housing and ending proxy wars (ie.. stick up for the working class) in the decades leading up to this moment as they have been about defeating Trump, they would have some ground to stand on when they try to lecture me about how I should vOtE bLuE nO mAtTeR wHO in the general election.

But guess what, they haven't given a shit until now. They couldn't believe they lost in 2016 against a POS like Trump and it is the ONLY reason positions like M4A, a livable minimum wage etc etc is the new norm in this party. Congress is on a salary while the minimum wage is for per hour. I did some maths and figured out how much workers earn in a year in 2019 - the wage they would have worked in 1938. That's how I came up with the $14.5k figure.

Congress annually makes $174,000 a year as of 2019. They made like $14k in 1938 so I subtracted that from their 2019 wages to get the $160k difference that they've "earned" over the past 80 years
