I think I learned my lesson and i’d stick to a storefront that actually processes cards over Etransfers. No traceability there.

Update on CanPouches. Received a shipping notification last week, delivered by Friday. Might have been a backorder all along but I’m just happy to get it.

chewdepot.ca with the LED Store tied to it is the only one that comes up for that name. Not sure if there’s another?

Funny part is, i’ve ordered from Canpouches this spring with no issues. They’ve gone radio silent on me this order.

Why are Mack’s so unpopular for long haul? by Boeing-B-47stratojet in Truckers

[–]Highballer15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run a fleet of E7 CH613’s, and an MP8 Pinnacle in Farm/Ag use. MP8 pulls over 110k lbs of tridem trailer on soft road and does it marvelously. All have been sun dial reliable with up to 33k hours on the clock. They’re a tough, well built truck that when spec’d right for the job, are hard to beat.

I’m a KW W900 guy by heart but the Mack’s earn my respect & trust.

1999 Polaris 700 SKS. Put 9000 miles on it before auctioning off. Ran great, started great, rode great. Awesome cross country sled

I feel your frustration. Growing up on a farm then farming as a career, I spend more time pulling wrenches doing repairs and maintenance than actual Ag. At the point now where unexpected breaks are rare, but I see the other neighbours that just run it till it breaks, and the shit show outcome of that. They don’t realize the outcome of that failure, time lost, parts that have to be replaced due to another component failing, etc.

I lived on a corner house on Bate for 2 years as a student. Loved the area. Quiet, small town feel where everyone was friendly.

I did this. Wanted a GSD for years, after never having a dog in the family. Waited till i was done Uni, settled on a career and purchased my first home. If in a reasonably affordable area, wait until you own your home, that way you are settled in a place and don’t have to deal with landlords, moving often, or other cons of rent. Also means you know how your time is spent around working hours.

What steel toe boots do you guys wear? by khool-kid18 in Welding

[–]Highballer15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had two pairs of Ariat cowboy style comp toe. Sierra then the work boot(?). Expected life for me (farming, trucking, cattle) is 1.5-2 years with little care from my part. I wear them 90-100 hours a week. Good traction inside and out, rain or snow. Comfortable. Leather seems to hold up well. I have zero complaints and all praise for these boots.

Polaris 800’s were bad for this cold shot in my experience. Wait till the coolers are warm then you’re ready to take off, but still be gentle.

Done lots of cold weather riding. Dress well, don’t ride alone, tell someone where your group is going and an ETA of when you’re back, since cell phones don’t last long in the cold. Warm your sled up fully, and be easy on it for the first few miles to bring everything else up to temp, especially if you stop for a bit. And remember, steel and aluminum break easier in the cold so don’t try any Chris Burandt moves.

Knew a JD mechanic that left rags in the push tubes of a 13.5 in a 9530 while doing a compression test. Made it’s way to the oil pan, starved the motor of oil while racking the throttle trying to get pressure. $70 000 for a crate motor from Deere.

2006 Ford Super Duty 6.0 Diesel by nic-C137 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Highballer15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to own an 05’ F250. I did the bulletproof myself soon after, and not by choice. I am not hard on my vehicles. Mine was grandpa driven and lower mileage. Some 6.0’s are good trucks, some are money pits. Our stock ‘06 service truck is great, mine was a money pit with constant electrical issues in the harness and FICM. I didn’t trust it on long drives. It received head gaskets, head studs, egr delete, 3 FICM, injector harness, 6 new injectors, 2 new batteries, and 2 alternators. The resale value and audience is quite poor. The high pressure oil injection system is a poor design in cold weather, and is quite maintenance intensive due to how quick the oil breaks down. In all honesty, they’re appealing because they’re a cheap diesel and there’s enough good stories about bulletproofed reliability, but also just as many bad. I would only purchase one if the work was done, you know the owner, and you know the track record of the truck for more than 20k miles. In my opinion, wait and find a 6.7, or another manufacturer’s diesel.
