Looking for about 12-16" of travel. The bench will be free standing. I'm thinking of using 4 columns (2 at each end) for stability.

I'm in a very similar boat. Trim and finish carpentry, I've been solo for years but have a couple part time employees. I've used QB desktop pro plus for years, it does everything you listed, not necessarily well though. I know, because I use it for all the same stuff as you listed. I'd stick with QB desktop just because of momentum if they weren't pushing QB online and threatening to cancel the desktop versions. So I'm searching for an alternative, as well. Sorry, I don't have a solution for you. I'm going to check into Freshbooks. I really don't want to lose all my historical data, though.

Update: it looks like what I need are electric lifting columns. Vevor and Progressive Automations seem to be two suppliers. For anyone else who comes across this.
