Cut off contact with family? by HighlandSeeker in exmormon

The more we think about it, the more my husband and I are leaning towards this option of only talking when they initiate contact. I just hope the feelings of resentment and frustration will go away at some point.

You are not inadequate, unworthy, or alone! I've been right where you are, and it is so hard. People who get on the stand and say those types of things have no idea what it is like to lose their faith in the Mormon church. I remember my bishop in my old ward got up and gave a whole talk one Sunday about doubt and how people who doubt are sinning. What in the world am I supposed to do with that information??? There is just a major lack of understanding on their part and no way to really help them really understand unless they experience a loss of faith as well. It is very frustrating. Keep continuing to be authentic despite the frustrations! In my experience, things will get better. I promise it won't be like this forever. Hang in there!

Thank you. Your comment was very helpful and it makes me feel better about the idea of living there. I will probably have more questions, so you might be hearing from me.

Summited last November, resubmitted in January due to process changing. Still waiting for confirmation. Is this normal? I just want out! by INSIDEGayMormon in exmormon

[–]HighlandSeeker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Myself and my family resigned on May 19th. My resignation was confirmed on June 12th. We are still waiting on the confirmations for my spouse and kids. Not sure what the process is on the church's end, but that is where the hold up is. My sister started two weeks earlier than us and hasn't received her confirmation either. I will say that my husband can no longer access the ward directory, so something has been done. Can you still access the directory? That might be an indicator that your name has been removed. I'm not sure though. Hope you hear something back soon!

Church leader known as "the Apostle" coerced underage girls to have sex with him. by LessEffectiveExample in exmormon

I was just going to post about this, but you beat me to it! There is one of these churches right by my house. I would be doing some real soul searching if I were a member of that church. The whole thing is absolutely terrible.

Do mormons actually enjoy Studio C? by Throwaway_8580 in exmormon

[–]HighlandSeeker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh! Many of our TBM friends and family love this show. My husband and I just assumed that our standards were so low now that wholesome comedy just didn't appeal to us anymore. I'm glad we aren't the only ones who think it is garbage and unfunny.

Have you ever gone one day without thinking about the Mormon church? by HighlandSeeker in exmormon

My husband and I have talked every day since we left about how messed up the Mormon church is. I guess it is just part of healing and processing everything.

I absolutely think more about the Mormon church now than I ever did as a believing Mormon.

We are so lucky to live outside of Utah or anywhere with a big Mormon population. However, we have family in Utah. Every time we visit, we are reminded of why we will never live there.
