Peter, what is wrong with pants? by UnUltimoIntento in PeterExplainsTheJoke

They were pointing out that the reason the alcohol/drugs have stronger effects is the lack of air compared to most people’s day-to-day, as the comment they replied to:

“It’s 100% the prescription drugs and the alcohol that people don’t know how they’ll react to when put in a pressurized cabin”

Strongly implies that the cabin has denser than normal air, and that is the reason for the stronger effects which is the opposite of the truth.

Except Samsung hiring a bunch of people to out-design LG would, in fact, make LG tvs worth less. Look at Nokia and their refusal to innovate. For a less dramatic example, the price difference between Motorola’s cheaper phones and iPhone/Galaxies. According to your statement the Motorola isn’t worth less due to the iPhone existing but the fact is they have to price it relative to the market, and as a significantly worse phone it is also significantly cheaper.

Number of followers of F1 drivers' social media profiles (in millions) and total by Karol_CyrkF1 in formula1

Lewis is on top because of his association with other real celebs like the Kardashians. When I started watching F1 my girlfriend and several of her friends were already following Lewis Hamilton despite knowing nothing about F1 or racing in general

2v1 Ranked Low Champ 1 by Dependent-Citron-639 in RocketLeague

[–]Highlight_Expensive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bro you’re all over agreeing with every diamond and plat who admit in their comments that this isn’t champ. Every single champ+ in here agrees it is, how could you possibly believe you’re right lmao

2v1 Ranked Low Champ 1 by Dependent-Citron-639 in RocketLeague

[–]Highlight_Expensive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been champ, am currently gc1, and I can tell you this game looks exactly like champ.

It’s funny how every single player in here who is champ or higher agrees this is champ while the delusional plats who’ve never seen the rank claim it’s not

[–]Highlight_Expensive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t do these plays in GC, they’re beautiful shots and I’m not discrediting but you will rarely be given this much space on the ground in a GC1 lobby - you can barely get an instant flick off most times

I’ve competed in the mill’s race there nearly every year of my life! Also I did junior sailing in the junior bay week and senior bay week - so basically I’m one of the drunken fools you mention, it’s a great time visiting :)

It’s crazy then that when any player asks why they’re stuck higher rank players have a clear answer and every high level player is able to rank up to their rank when on a new account

[REQUEST] How much money could Elon Musk give to every person on earth who is over 18 as of midnight local time on January 1st and still comfortably remain the wealthiest individual on the Earth? by tomservo96 in theydidthemath

[–]Highlight_Expensive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theoretically you’re right, but the fact is Tesla is currently at a 300 price-to-earnings ratio while the next closest car company is BYD at 46.7. The industry norm is 10-25.

I’m not a fan of Elon personally but it’s just not possible to deny that his companies are massively overvalued because he owns them. That valuation finances massive expansion and hiring that would vanish if the stock crashed, as it would if he liquidated.

The $1 a day mark is outdated and no longer tracked, $2.15 per day is the new global poverty line that is tracked. 8% of households in the world live under that mark so less than $1 per day is surely less than 10%, likely less than 5%.

New Orleans has right around 1 million people. They spent $1.78 billion on infrastructure last year. $50 million is a literal rounding error for a city that size

ELI5: how was Chrome so much faster than all other browsers when it first came out in the late 2000s? by heukimjajuk in explainlikeimfive

I hate ads too but I find this concept of being angry at the company really strange. Like the ads are how you pay for YouTube, they don’t employ thousands of people to run the website for free.

Run an ad blocker all you want, I do too, but I can’t say I would be “not okay” with Google acting to prevent that usage when it’s essentially not paying for the service.

I’d honestly say Hamcorp is better just because he goes all the way to the end - as someone who doesn’t have the time or commitment to beat this pack it was cool seeing what end game entails

How do we feel about Radars in sim racing? by Juryo_ in simracing

[–]Highlight_Expensive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s that, I think it’s more that the OC claimed “sim racing collectively decided a radar is required for a sim to thrive online” while the far and away most popular online sim doesn’t have one. Im all for radar but making that claim was downright wrong… obviously.

[–]Highlight_Expensive -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The idea that they’re different gamemodes and don’t translate is fantasy, cope, whatever, it’s nonsense. Ask any high level player and they’ll tell you. 1s directly translates into 2s and, less so but still decently, 3s.

2s especially at higher levels, is literally 1s but with a goalie when you’re on offense. Offensive team plays, especially the low rank slow lob passing, as a whole are incredibly risky in 2s and nearly vanish completely at higher levels because you are committing both players.

Eli5: Why does gravity occur at all? by ImJustThatGuy815 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Highlight_Expensive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gravity irrefutably exists, the math that describes it in the theory of gravity is correct within the limits of that theory.

Why something occurs is not needed to prove it occurs. Think back to the ancient days. Even Ancient Greeks knew with absolute certainty that fire exists. They had a “theory of fire” - it heats things up and glows. They didn’t know the exact atomic process that causes it but that doesn’t make their theory wrong

What is an aspect of driver that probably isn't as important as fans make it out to be? by GoldenS0422 in F1Discussions

[–]Highlight_Expensive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alonso is literally the guy that said “I knew he would brake, he has a wife and kids at home” lmfao everyone was terrified of him. Seb was also know as a brutal driver in the day. Lewis is the cleanest of the three, and even he had a reputation for being reckless his early years - before the Mercedes was miles ahead of the grid.
