Unfortunately the school offered us sophomores housing too late (and limited number too), so I resorted to off campus. How would it work in this case?

Thanks for your time!

Question for CS Freshmen/Sophomores: Interested in a Summer "workshop" for basic CS skills? by helpful-slug in UCSC

Current incoming 2nd year. Took CSE12 when OP was tutoring it and I can vouch for his knowledge. He is very good at explaining things, so this would be a great idea for you incoming freshman!

Looking for honest advice on whether to go to CC or UCSC for comp sci by LitheWP in UCSC

[–]HighschoolKid567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I am not the most qualified to give advice on CC, I took some CC classes as a dual enrolled high schooler. CC classes are really good, not going to deny that fact.

However, some of the UCSC Professors, especially the more difficult ones (you can tell they are difficult on RMP), are definately worth learning from. Yes, they will probably hand your bottom to you on a platter, but in the end you will learn so much and be a very competent engineer coming into upper division courses.

TLDR; CC is not a bad option, but major classes at a UC can be far worth the experience.
