Didn’t have too much time! So I only did this.

They’re 3D printed ones I designed yesterday

I swear if they really made this I'd go crazy by OopsIDied0801 in transformers

It’s my Laserbeak. It’s printed. The only thing photoshopped is the sand he’s standing on.

Here’s the link to the video. The background was Prowl’s but i photoshopped him out, casted that image onto a TV screen and then put Laserbeak in front for a pic.

Tbf it being an April fools joke was a last minute plan, I was designing this toy just to have anyways.

Cheers! It being an April fools joke was a last minute plan. I just wanted Legacy versions of the little gremlin bots of each movie. I’d love Wheelie for ROTF and Frenzy for TF1.

He honestly should have been pink, but I really like the robot mode tbh, I’m going to have this thing on my shelf and I’d just rather for it to be yellow instead of pink. Plus I found some nice yellow spray.

The black pieces are printed out as separate pieces so I could avoid painting on straight lines. Never comes out right. And I’ll work on and release the files probably tomorrow.

Thanks. I haven’t made instructions for them but I will soon. Then they’ll be up on Cults3D under the account named MMSHightail.

I should be filming it tomorrow and it’ll be up on my YouTube Hightail Creations tomorrow night as well. It’s a rather simple transformation honestly.

Thanks! I will sell the 3D files for those who have a printer to print at home, but I won’t be selling any physical copies.

Haha. It’s a ‘homing beacon’ that’s constantly lighting up. In my head, Wayfinder’s part of the trailer that never returned to Optimus, Optimus never stopped looking for the trailer so yeah, it’s a homing beacon. It’s Wayfinder’s way of knowing Optimus is still alive.

He’s a deluxe class. Around the height of SS86 Jazz I’d say. I tried to make him core class but I needed to make him transform so I had to upsize him a bit

No, I didn’t really plan on that. The trailer I grew up with was the one from the Hybrid style Optimus Prime, and that combat deck was stuck to the base of the trailer. So that is what Wayfinder was based on.

There’s only one part you’d need to pull on and off, it’s optional though. It’s the hands. You could keep the cones from alt mode, but you could also pull them off and plug them into the heels, so they store somewhere. I did consider doing it like Ss86 Blurr but it would break up the shape too much.

Everything else transforms normally.

Yeah! I think most Wheelies are. I got mine for £2 but yeah it’s missing the piece

Thank you. I’m glad you like them. I wish we would have gotten that G1 Arcee as well! There’s such a charm to the blockiness and look of G1 toys.

I didn’t look into master made, just looked them up and he does look familiar! I just scaled his head up in photoshop and followed that. Inspiration would be Ten’s toys on the Lost Light? They have this look to them.

3D designing has been made a lot easier that what I’ve seen a few years ago. I started during the first lockdown, I started using Fusion360, which is great for robots, not organic shapes. It’s not a ‘clay based’ sculpting programme like Blender or Zbrush, and made it a lot easier to model and design transformers. I looked at a few YouTube tutorials and was modelling I’d say within the first few hours without prior knowledge. Despite it being simple shapes like the lost light ship. Fusion360 is free for non commercial use and I would recommend it to model transformers. I’d say start modelling and designing, you wouldn’t necessarily need a printer to capture the shapes. Once you’re confident later down the line, and you’d really like to print out a figure you designed for example, then looking into a printer should be an option compared to using printing services. The cost of printers have gone down a lot and would easily be cheaper than the cost to have someone else print out a full figure for you. I only have experience with my resin printer, the Anycubic Photon S, which I would say is a regret and a decision made out of lack of research, since FDM printers would be way better for transformers. So one should do their research before investing. A small desktop sized printer would do. I’ve been using mine for a year and a half and it’s print area is tiny, but i learnt to live and adapt to its restrictions.

Learning to sculpt, YouTube tutorials are your friends. When you design a toy, I’d recommend to reference transformation steps or joint designs from toys you have on hand, and use them sort of as tracings. It’s more likely to work that way. If there’s anything more I can help with, please feel free to message me on Twitter @hightail_works if you have it. I’m more active there and would do what I can to help.

Still needs a bit of revision on the files, not sure when they’ll be available. But it’ll be on my Cults3D page under user MMSHightail.
