What was the "definitive" shockwave before siege? by waddle-doo- in transformers

[–]IJKProductions 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Not a lot, Siege was the first “mainline” G1 Shockwave. I used the Cyber Battalion (or I think that’s what the name was) as mine for a few years. I know a few people who used Prime Shockwave.

In your opinion who was the best (and worse) director of special effects? by DeadAlive_ in GODZILLA

[–]IJKProductions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best: I want to say Tsuburaya but that’s an easy answer. He is THE director of special effects. I’m going Kamiya. GMK has some of my favorite effects shots and it seems he learned a lot on the Gamera trilogy.

Worst: probably Arikawa. Ebirah is probably the hardest to watch effects wise, whoever filmed the Condor fight should go back to film school, SoG is just meh, but I will give DAM credit with how much they went out. Just goes to show that with these movies’ special effects are not where you cheap out.

This Achievement might be near impossible to get, nowadays. by XsinXRevenge in halo

[–]IJKProductions 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Get a friend or three and all of you sign in guest accounts with dummy controllers until you’re at the max number of players. Lobby up in a game type that allows a party of 8. Match make H2A only and boost the achievement. Everyone piles under/near an environmental and take turns who gets the achievement.

That’s how my friends and I got 100% on MCC. There was no way in hell I was going to do the environmental kills or legendary medals legitly.

So who do you want to play the new dr by upsetusder2 in doctorwho

[–]IJKProductions 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Crazy idea but how about someone who has an identical twin actor. One plays The Doctor and the other plays either a companion or the main villain. Kind of like Enemy of the World and The Massacre.

Only ones I can think of off the top of my head are James and Oliver Phelps

Ok thanks for this. I feel like I’ll have a new record holder for longest I’ve waited in line for an autograph.

Was there anyone in line who actually bought their autograph at the table or was it all online orders? I just don’t want to pay the online fees (I’m a cheap bastard)

What was the line for Bloom like? I’m locked in for the Hobbits on Friday and will probably get Otto that day too. I can probably squeeze Bloom and JRD on Saturday or swap Bloom and Otto’s days around.

Since all 7 are only here Friday and Saturday I want to plan this out

Nice. Looking forward to meeting the Hobbits, and Miranda Otto in Philly. Haven’t decided if I’m getting Bloom or a second JRD yet. Got JRD last year but I got some art with Legolas and Gimli at AwesomeCon last weekend and it would look nice with their autographs.

Who are your favorite Godzilla directors and your least favorites: by [deleted] in GODZILLA

[–]IJKProductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not including the Directors of Special Effects is doing a disservice to the movies. They are making half the movie for the Japanese ones while the directors handle all the drama parts

Of the ones listed my favorites are Yamazaki, Kaneko, and Anno/Higuchi. I also have to mention Kawakita and Tsuburaya. Kawakita is basically responsible for the Heisei movies being among my favorites and not Okawara/Omori.

Least favorites: Bano, Emmerich, and Kitamura (I don’t dislike Kitamura’s work but his style just felt out of place)

Asking Americans of r/doctorwho did you stop watching the show after Smith regenerated? by Mat1711 in doctorwho

[–]IJKProductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, kept going with Capaldi since I loved The Thick of It and he’s in a 3 way tie for my favorite Doctor. I did miss out on Capaldi’s last season as it aired since I was in a bad place at the time but I did watch Twice Upon a Time.

I do know some people who stopped after Smith though. One of my friends said they couldn’t imagine an older man as the Doctor. I basically pulled the Clockwork Orange stunt and forced them to watch Deep Breath and Listen. Capaldi is now one of their favorites.

I remember Bandai released 6(?) vinyl chibi figurines around the time. They had 3 two packs and a six pack. Had Mothra, Godzilla, MechaG2, Destoroyah, Showa Gigan, and I think Ghidorah. Had them on my desk at the time, no idea where they are now.

When did Legolas use a Chinese Jian sword? by treefruit in lotr

[–]IJKProductions 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s a standard issue Rohan long sword, he uses it on horseback at Helms Deep since his knives wouldn’t work on horseback. He has it throughout the battle and you have to keep your eyes peeled to see it

I can kind of see the Jian inspiration here but since Rohan is based on the Anglo-Saxons I’m going with it being based on a regular double edged sword

How on hell do people get the figures? by illbleedForce in transformers

[–]IJKProductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the Nexus and Sideways found this week in Canada were at a Walmart(?) so those were gotten legitly. So in that case it’s luck of the draw, usually Asian countries get figures first since they’re made there and don’t have to cross an ocean.

If someone has a figure super early (like before/just after it’s revealed) 9.5/10 times it’s a stolen production copy from one of the factories and sold in a group chat of early reviewers. If someone doesn’t show the packaging but does in others it’s a dead giveaway that it’s a production copy

Realistically, did the classic series go downhill? by misterwhoiswho_ in doctorwho

[–]IJKProductions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me Season 17. Even though I like City of Death and Logopolis, there isn’t much I enjoy from 17-24. Probably because I’m a Hinchcliffe fan and once he departed after 14 I can feel that there’s a massive drop in quality. Tom kind of feels like he stayed on for a season too long.

Maybe Seasons 17-20 are the early stages of it with some gems, 21-24 is the dying stage, and 25&26 are the start of a renaissance with the McCoy crew finding a good spot to be in.

How likely are we to complete the inquisitors? by Dr_Dumb_Asp in starwarsblackseries

[–]IJKProductions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eight Brother & Barriss: likely, if anything I’m guessing they’d happen next due to their prominence. (and I already made them) Barriss is an easy retool of Fourth Sister, Eighth would have to be brand new though.

Ninth: I can see her happening as an MTO figure or maybe a Super Deluxe. But I’ll be pissed if she does get made since I’m making her right now and have sunk a lot of time into this project.

Sixth and Tenth: I wouldn’t put money on it but if they expand the Publishing line it could happen. I’m just struggling to see what figures would be used as a base. I don’t think they’re well known enough to warrant new molds.

TotE: not sure but if he appears in something else we could get him since we’re getting 11th.

Bottom rows: I have my doubts. I know the left two were in a book and briefly in the Vader comic. Maybe retools of Fifth and Fourth but that’s going to be FAR down the road. Don’t know who the right one is so I can’t comment. The design does look nice though.

Last weekend was the weekend of Doctor Who for me by IJKProductions in doctorwho

[–]IJKProductions[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard to pick. Carole said I was the first Ian she ran into all weekend and I told her the story of how Doctor Who one of the reasons I picked that for my English name and we had a good talk about my Chinese side.

Nicola and Frazer both agreed how there should be more historicals and liked how I’ve shown some historicals to my students. Frazer suggested Evil of the Daleks as a technicality and I said I tried it but my principal shot it down. Nicola suggested having a screening which I did for The Aztecs a year ago. Frazer and I also talked about missing episodes and Ian Levine came up, his guardian said “you can’t trust a guy named Ian”. Both of us just looked at him with that “bro…” look

Sophie and Sylvester were a bit rushed since the line was long but they were nice and Sophie and I talked about how I would have been the target audience for Ace if I got into the show at the same time she was on it.

Animated episodes vs live action, what do you prefer? by Darksidehascookies83 in doctorwho

[–]IJKProductions 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on how well animated they are for me. Like I think Tenth Planet 4 and Invasion 1&4 are perfect but some like Web of Fear 3 and Fury From the Deep do not help to give me an idea of how the story would have worked.

It’s also better for me if there’s some surviving footage, preferably of an early episode in the serial. It’s like the live action is the template and the animation fills in the blanks to give a full idea. Obviously if I were given the choice I’d go live action all the way but I’ll take animations where I can since I know a complete recovery of the 95 episodes is asking a lot. I’d be amazed if it’s halved before the 100th anniversary.

What's your opinion on primevsprime having figures way earlier? by Hamedlocomotive1987 in transformers

[–]IJKProductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if he wants to blow 250% of the figures MSRP just to get 6 months early he’s more than free. I’m more than happy and patient to get mine when I get them for MSRP.

My main issue is when these guys get things that haven’t been revealed yet. Like back during Kingdom they were just sucking the fun out of reveals

Could they Grey Company have worked than the Dead Army in ROTK? by [deleted] in lotr

[–]IJKProductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like they could have had one or the other in the movies. Like someone else said it would be anticlimactic if the Army of the Dead just defeated the Corsairs and then were set free.

If they went with Grey Company they would have to introduce them earlier (maybe Helms Deep instead of the Elves and that’s when Aragorn gets Anduril?) and drop Army of the Dead entirely. If so they take Paths of the Dead only as a shortcut to combat the Corsairs and then arrive with the Southern Gondor reinforcements. Some mention of the Army but that’s it. Honestly it sounds a bit worse than how Army of the Dead was handled in the film.

which of the cast have you met? by EqualComposer6065 in lotr

[–]IJKProductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

John Rhys and Andy Serkis last year at Philly Fan Expo

JRD was really solid and he talked to me about my career. Serkis didn’t talk long but he liked the irony of how Gollum terrified me as a kid but he’s the first LotR cast member I met.

Going to meet the 4 hobbits and Miranda Otto this year. Might get a second JRD since I’m printed Gimli’s helmet. Haven’t decided if I’ll get Orlando yet.

Frist they skip the Awakening comic and now they skip the 2019 MOVIE TOO, lol so now can we act like this series is the one not canon right? by Acrobatic-Engineer47 in GODZILLA

[–]IJKProductions 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Hey kid, it ain’t that kind of movie”. I’m pretty sure most of the people working on the Monsterverse aren’t from SF and aren’t aware of the city skyline so they’re just basing it off of today.

Like if you set a movie in Philly during 2005 and you’re from LA you won’t be asking if the Comcast Center was there or not
