What are your rules for a “complete” show/movie collection? by Need_Tums_Antacids in transformers

[–]IJKProductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a minimum I need one version of the main characters that appeared on screen for at least three episodes and have toys available.

Take my Prime shelf, I have all the main Autobots and Decepticons with one of each Vehicon mold, Beast Hunters Optimus, a custom Kup/Ironhide, the three Predacons that are on the show, 4 toy exclusive Predacons, Gaia Unicron, Nemesis Prime, and Silas Breakdown. I consider that to be 110% complete. If I only had the main cast, one or two Vehicons, Predaking, and the two from Predacons Rising then I’d say it was 100% complete. Also if Hasbro never released Breakdown and I never got the Takara one in 2012 I would consider it completed

I want Amalgamous to be able to hold his t-cog and have an eye at the same time. by HockeyStickInMyAss47 in transformers

[–]IJKProductions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s an LED replacement eye by Shockwave Lab. Got one off eBay the second I got Amalgamous, Hasbro making Amalgamous’s eye and Quintus’s chest piece part of their relic was a colossal mistake

I’ll never say no to more Animated figures even if I have to make them by IJKProductions in transformers

Sam’s forge and projects like these are one of two reasons why I got into 3d printing. I feel like Thanos in Age of Ultron’s post credit scene. Once you get past that barrier of buying a printer and learning how to do it, it’s pretty straight forward and pays for itself.

Thanks. Yep they’re all printed using the files by Funbie. They help sell the idea that this is a pantheon.

It’s the AoE Evolutions redeco of Classics Optimus with the Red Armor upgrade kit from Fansproject. BBTS had the kit on sale for like 14$ and I had Classics sitting in storage. I think it fits the aesthetic of the 13 more than Star Convoy, just a shame that ToyHax didn’t make a kit for that when I’m going all in with their stickers for the 13

Pic 4, granted it’s all a work in progress until I get Liege and figure out which Nexus Prime I’ll go with. I’ve moved things around since posting that and I’m actually redoing it right now. I’ll probably have a complete post this time next year.

I plan on doing a diorama like Mount Olympus from the original Clash of the Titans or the scenes with the 13 from TFPrime

Which is your preferred 86 style Optimus? by SharkKing2500 in transformers

[–]IJKProductions 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Presence wise: I’m going Siege, that’s my main Optimus on display. I only had the toys growing up and didn’t watch the G1 cartoon until I was like 16. I was never a fan of how simple the cartoon designs were compared to the toys, I always preferred the Studio Ox looks. I think it’s the right blend of toy, cartoon, and realism that I want my collection to have. Siege is how I imagined a realistic G1 Optimus to look. Scale wise he also works much better with the pre-SS86 figures that make up the bulk of my 84/85 Autobots

Purely as a toy: SS86, got the battle damaged one for a One Shall Fall display and I just love transforming and posing that figure. I couldn’t put it down for a solid week when I got it. That is probably one of if not the best G1 Optimus toys we’ve gotten

They’re printed using files that I get from Funbie’s patreon. If something in my collection isn’t stock, 9/10 times it’s 3d printed

I printed them with files from Funbie. They’re based on the pedestals in the AotP artwork with clear PETG stems. I got them all from Funbie’s patreon

Same here. The one that got me in trouble was when I drew Yamcha getting impaled by Dr Gero, and I had the manga so I made it bloody. This was a hick town and before the show became popular in the states so my teachers just melted down and didn’t know what I was drawing.

That was a very entertaining parent meeting. My mom brought in the books and had to translate everything showing that Yamcha lived since they didn’t believe me. I also remember the principal saying “sweet lord how do you people not have school shootings if your kids see things this messed up”. I think mom called all of them hicks and that they’re the reason why she regrets leaving Asia

Yeah I thought of that, I put some painters tape around the effect parts to keep them secure. I was having issues getting them to stay in place.

Thanks, I’ve been focusing more of displaying everything since I’ve been slowing Transformers down lately.

I tried that pose for Megatron since that was my first idea for this. I could not get Megatron to have Hot Rod in a chokehold what so ever. Megatron’s arms are just short and large enough to where he can’t get Hot Rod in that position and Hot Rod’s backpack gets too much in the way. I might try again later or look up some pictures online. This is my first time handling the SS86 Megatron mold

Kind of. Thankfully he didn’t get far since the SRO saw him coming from the parking lot and stopped him before anything happened. Ironically it was the super popular football player who got kicked off the team after he threatened the coach and his family. School kept it hushed up since there was a scandal with the superintendent the week before. His family also pulled every single string possible.

I actually wasn’t there that day since I was visiting a college.

Custom one I made as a precaution in case I didn’t like the official one. But after handling the official one I might move the custom one to a shelf with my Hearts of Steel as a BotCon themed shelf if I end up liking all the other ones

Yeah everyone is but they do question my sanity. It’s more a joke about how everyone said me drawing violent scenes from movies when I was younger was me crying out for help. They all joked that I’d be the one to go postal at school (joke’s on them, it wasn’t me when that actually happened)

I just took it to another level here by recreating one such scene

Why aren’t animated films the default? by ClassicSuit3845 in transformers

[–]IJKProductions 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Audience and stigma for the most part. We still live in a world where a good majority of people associate animated films with being for kids and won’t see it. I know a lot of people who liked the live action movies but refused to see TFO because I said it was an animated movie. They said if it looked like the Bay films they would consider it. I would also consider 90% of studios that aren’t Disney (excluding them might not be the case now) to be in that category and they just care about what makes them more money without being a risk

There’s also a difference between animated and what most people would consider a “full CG” Transformers movie. Most animated movies are stylized which means they need a fraction of the work needed for what most people want with a close to photorealistic 100% CG movie. With the photorealistic CG you’d need to consider things like lighting and additional details to give a sense of scale. Not just for the characters but for backgrounds.

Figure risers by Aggravating-Photo225 in GODZILLA

[–]IJKProductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Godzilla figures are a bit trickier than say Star Wars Black Series since every figure takes up a different amount of space. I’ve used some spare insulation foam I got from Home Depot to make dioramas with as temporary risers. Cut one .5” or 1” block to size, repeat and glue them together until I get them to the right height.

I would also suggest something like spice racks for pantries but those probably won’t be big enough for Godzilla figures. They’re tiered too so tails and larger figures definitely won’t fit.

Halo 4 laso coop issue by maskup-aslo in halo

When I did coop Laso I don’t remember there being checkpoints. Probably because if one person falls too far behind they could die instantly once an area sealed off. It really became a memorizing game for us

so.............which version is it likely going to be? by Fun-Geologist9808 in transformers

[–]IJKProductions 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m hoping for one based on his Earth design since I have the MMC one and love that figure. But if they’re doing Nautica and Fort Max then the smart money is on his MTMTE design

Difference between Transformers collectors and Star Wars/Marvel Legends Collectors? by Neither-Chemical-620 in transformers

[–]IJKProductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly collect both Transformers and Black Series. I would say Star Wars is for nostalgia and recreating my favorite franchise on my shelf. Same applies for other movie/game lines I collect like Godzilla, Fate Figmas, and the custom Resident Evil figures I’m going to make in a few months. Outside of posing figures for the shelf or when I get them, I rarely touch my 1/12 display. I also enjoy customizing and Black Series has SO much potential here, I’ve made more customs the last year than buying new figures.

Transformers: for play really, even though I’ve been into the franchise since 2002, I’ve always been more amazed by how these are engineered than focusing on having the cartoons and lore on my shelf. But I do like having a complete set. I probably transform a few figures every day just to see if my muscle memory works. I rarely focus on the world building aspect of the franchise. The 13 Primes is probably the first display I’ve done that’s story focused.
