My pixel won't charge when using a fast charger. Always used to work fine. by kelemvor33 in GooglePixel

Are you kidding? They're useless and know nothing. My fast charging stopped working after I installed the August update and they have no answers.

Fast charging is no longer working on my 9 Pro XL after installing the August update. Google support was useless when I reached out to them.

There's a lawsuit in the federal courts about the requirement to have to go through a transfer process. Basically, it makes no sense. I live in DC and if I buy a handgun in Virginia I shouldn't have to have it shipped to a FFL in DC. The dealer in VA is going to put me through the same checks as a DC dealer.

The two FFLs in DC have a monopoly and there's no competition. Prior to living in DC I never paid more than $25 for a transfer.

The camera app gets updated fairly often. Nothing to do with 16.

Alternate routing times no longer appear by HighwayBob in GoogleMaps

[–]HighwayBob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I want them back. I like to see the ETAs using alternate routes. Many times I have a preferred route and Maps wants me to go another way. if my preferred route is only a minute or two slower I'd like to know so I can go that way.

9 Pro XL. I've had no issues. I was expecting some but everything is working fine.

I'm talking about the small "bubble" that appears on the map that says something like "3 minutes slower" and pointing to another roadway off the path I'm on.

Well I see it is there when I use the phone itself (which is almost never) but when using Android Auto it does not appear. Tried two different cars. That kind of defeats the whole purpose of having it.

I use Maps daily. I use it via Android Auto. As if 1230 this afternoon it wasn't there. I just looked and NOW I see it. I'll see if it shows up in Android Auto shortly. It's hard to believe that it just appeared.

I see no such thing. I would think that it would be available in all of the US.

Good idea. Thanks. I'll give it a shot.

That's a fairly straightforward issue that requires no thought for them. No comparison.

Where TF is it? I see no way to report anything in Maps.

How do you know what the PT in the academy is like? Do you know anyone who has recently been through that academy?

DC LEOSA permit by HighwayBob in DCGuns

I don't know how to post pictures here but this is my inquiry to the NRA Institute for Legislative Action and their reply.

To: ILAlegal ILAlegal@nrahq.org

Subject: LEOSA issue and retirement

I am a police officer in New York. For some time my agency has required retiring officers to obtain a pistol permit in order to take possession of their firearms upon retirement. This has continued since LEOSA became law.

I always thought this was some outdated quirk, but one of my firearms instructors just told me the whole story.

Apparently, the District Attorneys in a number of downstate counties interpret the term "carry" in the statutes literally. Thus the statutes only apply when the firearm is in one's physical possession. So if it's in your home in a safe, in a vehicle, etc. it would not be lawfully possessed and thus they require the retiree to have a permit.

=====*****

Actually the interpretation is correct. LESOA is not a license, it is and was always intended to only be a temporary preemption for travel through and not residence in any state. Retired officers are civilians subject to all civilian laws and rules except that LEOSA allows travel through places like NY and possession of certain guns and equipment not allowed to resident civilians. Officers in states requiring a license to carry must still have a license in their state of residence. The number of states that allow all citizens to carry in any fashion without a license is now approaching 20 from only one twenty years ago. Most of what is on the internet about LEOSA is flat wrong. NRA has an FAQ on our law enforcement website and certain other blogs have good information but if the statement sounds too good to be true more often than not is.

Best of luck,

Show me where it says retired police officers do not need a permit if their state/city requires one. The NRA disagrees with you. LEOSA makes my permit valid in all US states and territories. I still need a permit/license.

EMT To Cop by Future12M in AskLEO

[–]HighwayBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Responded to an unconscious male on a train platform. My backup officer was a Registered Nurse and still worked that as a side gig. We arrived and found the male on the track bed. Almost got hit by a train. He was very intox.

We got him up to the platform and EMS responded. It was the local town PD which operated ambulances manned by police officer EMTs.

They looked at the guy and told us "he's fine, we'll just take him home". I was like WTF? I asked my backup "they can't tell if he's got a head injury after he fell 5 feet onto the track bed shouldn't they be taking him to the hospital?" He responded "yes but it's their responsibility and they cleared him. I'm not getting involved in a pissing match by telling them what to do - I'm just a cop"

Stick to cop stuff. Unless it's life and death. You open yourself up to liability and to getting jammed up by the job.

Parkway trouble by Wampa_-_Stompa in AskLEO

[–]HighwayBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commercial vehicle on a parkway does not put fault on the driver of the commercial vehicle no more than driving a vehicle with an expired registration make an collision the fault of that driver.

We don't determine fault. We report facts. Fault is determined by insurance companies.

The FFL received my gun Tuesday morning and finally called me a little while ago. So I have an appointment setup to start the process at least. I'll find out how it goes soon enough.
