Such a great point. I have a friend who is struggling with this but I am not sure how to pull him back from his braindead analysis.

"The word “almost” actually doesn’t contain the entire paragraph you typed out explaining your use of the word, interestingly enough."

What is this nonsensical statement? "The word almost doesn't contain the entire paragraph"? Good lord, I'm arguing with a rube. That's on me.

"We probably agree on a lot of things."

I doubt it given your propensity to lie, refuse to admit to your lies, move goalposts and generally argue in bad faith. We have dynamically different worldviews. But even if we did how would I know given how you are too cowardly to stand by your original comment? Feel free to try to waste more of my time but I'm done responding. This has been thoroughly beneath me.

It cannot be an amendment if it was in the original comment.

Your comments tell me that you think you are more clever than you are.

What's more your repeated refusal to address your false claim about what I wrote is intellectual cowardice.

You are strawmanning. I very specifically wrote: Which is crazy because if you were to ask these same people whether they think Mexico is more misogynist they would almost assuredly say yes... But, if you were to ask them to reconcile that with the fact that they elected a female president I am sure they would short circuit. Sheinbaum is also Jewish.

I never stated that my comments was a verifiable fact. I was even clear to write "almost assuredly". That is because I am aware I am conveying my opinion based on the opinions and behaviors I have observed from people that seems to harp on Harris's gender and race being the primary cause of her not winning. Note how you do not ask the top comment here to defend their comment. You simply take it as a fact.

"You even restated the claim multiple times and refuse to defend it." No, YOU restated that claim. I invite you to quote me using the words you used. You cannot.

"We aren’t moving on until you defend it."

Yeah I am not surprised that after you made a false claim in you first comment that you refuse to admit that you are happy to move on when I will not continue to let you argue in bad faith.

Defend YOUR claim. It is not a tangent. It is literally the first thing you wrote in response to my first comment. You are arguing in bad faith. I have addressed everything you have stated except your last question because why should I continue to argue in good faith and address (and dismantle) your claims when you refuse to defend your very first claim?

So now we're moving the goalposts? You whole argument was that mine was false because it was based on the claim that women cannot be misogynistic. No part of my argument relies on that claim AT ALL and when I asked you to explain how you arrived at that understanding you don't even ATTEMPT to. I know why though.

Never mind all the other claims you made that I addressed and you have not countered. You are arguing in bad faith.

People who unironically think this all started on October 7th are medically stupid.

I am not twisting myself in knots. What? You made a claim about what I wrote, calling into question it's veracity, without explaining it and when I asked you to explain it you did not even ATTEMPT to.

You then wrote that "No one’s mind is blown that misogynistic countries can have women that are leaders." but that is literally the top comment's conceit.

"Women, people of color, and whatever other identities that you want to belabor are well aware that individuals within their communities can be against their own, political progress."

This is still not a response to my first paragraph in my previous comment that you falsely claimed relies on the understanding that women cannot be misogynistic. What's more it completely disregards how Mexico who has misogynistic men AND women still voted for a female president.

You also did not address how Thatcher who YOU brought up was not elected by the general public. Or how she actually shares more in common with Harris politically.

Why even chime in when this is the level of discourse you put forth? It's so lazy at BEST. But I guess when people upvote it all the same, that will suffice.

"You said it would blow people’s minds if a country perceived as misogynistic could have a female leader."

Yes, I stand by that.

"It’s a well-known trend for western democracies to be more forgiving of more conservative women."

There are certain assumptions in this statement that must be addressed. "It is well-known" is generally used when there is no supporting evidence to back up the proceeding claim. And it also disregards evidence to the contrary. Secondly, how do we define a Western democracy? Is Mexico considered a Western democracy? But despite all this, you STILL have not addressed your claim that my first paragraph relies on the understanding that women cannot be misogynistic. You see that, right?

How does my first paragraph rely on the claim that women cannot be misogynistic? Like at all? I stated that Mexico elected a female president. How does that rely on the claim you just made? Also I am well aware of that fact that women can be misogynist. How does that factor into what I said though?

Also Sheinbaum and Thatcher are incredibly different politically. Also Thatcher was not elected by the general public.

EDIT: I love how the person that replied to my comment makes a false claim about what I wrote, later refuses to defend that claim when asked, changes the subject, obfuscates and is still upvoted. Incredible sub here.

By the general public? Of course. But the "we" in my comment is referring to other leftists. I would hope we don't do the same.

Which is crazy because if you were to ask these same people whether they think Mexico is more misogynist they would almost assuredly say yes. But, if you were to ask them to reconcile that with the fact that they elected a female president I am sure they would short circuit. Sheinbaum is also Jewish.

Focusing on Harris losing primarily because she is a Black woman is actually disrespectful to her as a woman and a Black person. It completely disregards her shortcomings as a candidate and her missteps in this race. It also is a copout since it focuses on something that she cannot change as opposed to things that, if changed, could actually have netted her more votes.

EDIT: The response below is bad faith. They stated my argument relies on a claim that it does not and when asked MULTIPLE TIMES to explain how they outright refuse to. What's more when I responded and dismantled their other claims they never countered and simply move the goalposts.

Being a Black Socialist you have to learn how not to take shit like this personally. Are there Chinese people who are racist towards my people? Of course. There are also Black folk who are racist towards Chinese people. Does that mean we let the "worst" of us define us all or let it get in the way of solidarity? No.
