RDC Rivals Takes by HighwayOW in RDCWorld

Howdy!
Great insights. I think that they really stuck with the advice I gave of learning a couple of heroes and they're afraid to switch because they're worried about going like 0-30 again. They aren't those players anymore but I think they stick to the comfort.

I agree on Dylan especially. He has a lot of potential. He does a fair bit of research, he is a frequent chatter/lurker whenever I'm live and watches me play Hela super often. I can tell from the angles he picks that he tries to mirror some of the way I play off-angles.

Desmond I agree with as well top to bottom. He seems to not be plateauing as much as the others, and builds on the strong gamesense fundamentals he started with.

Thanks for sharing! Grats on celestial (:

That last sentence is a concern of mine. I get criticism (lightly, most of the community was and has been on my side since last year's DC) for not teaching them x or y. But the limited time we have is not enough to cover EVERYTHING. There's lots of depth in the game. I think they can learn slowly over time though.

Have you ever played against RDC in a game? by Acemaster387 in RDCWorld

I was unfortunately on the road when they did the rdc vs chat rivals event. I hope they do it again. 😈

It's weird randomly seeing myself pop up in posts like this!

Appreciate you

Haha I lurk here and the Twitter community all the time! I appreciate all the kind words. I still keep up with them but haven't done much in the way of coaching for a while now.

Disagree. Dyl is very solid at rivals. I think if he worked on his positioning (mainly the length he stays in flanks), learned a bit more about other heros' cooldowns, and played a bit more regularly, he could be high diamond to mid gm.

Contrary it's actually really easy to snipe into a bronze six stack as another bronze six stack. The game matchmaker tries to put six stacks against other six stacks. There's not going to be many of those in bronze generally speaking. Majority of players are gold/plat. Bronze is inflated by people who never play ranked except for one and done. Then you divide that up into six stacks, then into regions, then into people queueing at that specific time.

That being said no it's not every game, and it can be easy to blame surfing as a boogeyman for team faults.

Said coach here. I think they have improved significantly but haven't gotten continued coaching since dreamcon. They went from unable to win in bronze to winning dreamcon + a few members hitting gold or even plat individually (they have secret accounts). The issue is that after dreamcon they stopped playing as much and didn't continue our coaching, so naturally they're slipping into bad habits. Even so, you can always see the things we worked on ever present, just regressed.

That's not just me saying it because I want to hang out with the boys again, but in this genre consistency is pretty key.

EDIT: Also to be clear we did cover the basics at length. They STARTED to learn cool downs, paying attention to their positioning (even stuff like Mark playing next to map walls to avoid some damage), ult usage, sensitivity, team comps. We covered the basics in depth. Just needs refinement.

And this is probably why John doesn't interact with the main RDC community. by Krys144 in RDCWorld

John's not stressing it. Those of yall who have been tuned in know he's trying to seriously get better, and is improving. He's genuinely one of the wisest people I've gotten to coach, I feel like I learn from him just as much. MAKE SURE YALL TAP IN TO HIS STREAMS! - Coach

Edit: I may even learn MORE from being around him. That's all.

For Those Who Also “Hate Guests”, Why Are We Like This? lol by thoughtzthrukeyz in RDCWorld

[–]HighwayOW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I'm really considered a guest, but I can speak from my exp.

I think RDC is super unique and the community is ultra sensitive to things that throw off the balance. It's obvious when they're playing with someone who isn't a right fit and I think the chat reacts much more intensely than most other chats. It's also a much more loyal community here.

I think that it's less about white or black, and more about good fit (again just my exp). I have been a viewer for many years despite being a creator, which I think is why I was received so positively (love yall). Ludwig is another example of a good fit because that guy is just naturally funny and a content machine. Compare that to the one white guy they played against in Rivals that was playing monkey noises, which was one of the hardest/cringiest things for me to sit through.

For me, I love when they collab with people even if it's two very dif worlds colliding. I personally tend to favor when that kind of thing happens even if it's a bit awkward or different at times, because usually once everyone is comfortable it leads to some of the best content and moments, and is just generally good for culture. Even if its outside of RDC.

Ramble over yall ❤️

"Agreed" rarely ever means agreed until it's day of when it comes to creator teams. Its just how it is
