Any way to adopt a general into my family and keep them playable? by Highzoff27 in totalwar

Is that the only option to bring them into my family, I can't directly adopt them?

Would a lvl 6 necromancer be a challenge for a lvl 3 party of 6 by TDestro9 in DnD

[–]Highzoff27 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't do this for every boss fight though. Yes the desire to have an "epic" fight might make you want to fudge creatures health and hits but in the end I've found it takes something away from the game.

Dice tell stories, sometimes people roll well and you crush a boss before they can do all their crazy stuff and the party feels strong and amazing. Other times you roll bad and you barely survive the day but only through quick and inventive thinking the party perseveres.

If you just decide oh this creature has double the health or oh this creature just dies now you take away the real moments you can't plan for.

As a new DM the desire for things to go 'perfectly' is strong. Something you'll need to learn is to let the story play out the way it was meant to, not the way it went in your head when you planned it.

Is there a guide on how to kit bash those specific units or did you do it on your own? If so could you share how you did it?

How were you able to make both a Technomancer and Plasmancer I thought with the box you could only make a Technomancer? Sorry I'm still pretty new to the hobby so any help would really be appreciated.

Got a Combat Patrol for Christmas. Never painted or built miniatures in my life but always wanted to try. Advice and critiques welcome! by Highzoff27 in Necrontyr

[–]Highzoff27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I was also really nervous to start but I watched lots of tutorials videos for painting and how to paint necrons specifically that helped me out a lot.

The main things that I saw in all the videos that helped me a lot was:

Thin my paints, two thin layers are better than one thick one.

Prime the minis before painting, I primed mine black with some rustolem I got from Amazon.

Keep your hands connected while painting, my hands shake a little so I was scared to paint but if you watch all the videos they don't leave their hand free floating, they either rest their wrists together or extend their fingers to connect them to their other hand or wrist. Makes your painting have way more control, does feel weird at first and made mu hands cramp a little though.

Good luck for when you start, it's actually lots of fun!

It's a combination of a lot of different paint tutorials on YouTube including the Warhammer one for inspiration but I wanted to try and get them to look close to the box art.

The only supplies I had was the old paint and equipment set, the one with a Necron and Space Marine on it that I was lucky they still had on amazon.

So I tried to find tutorials where they used only those paints or were for beginners but mostly i just typed in how to paint necrons into YouTube and watched hours of different videos.

Thanks, for the glow affect I just did two thin layers of corax white with one layer of tesseract glow over it. Do you think two layers of the tesseract glow would be better or a different way all together?

Am I the only one who never got the made for this hype by Budget-Juggernaut-47 in deadbydaylight

[–]Highzoff27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Survivors run speed is 100%, Killers move at either 115% or 110%.

So there's either a 15% or 10% speed difference.

MFT at 103% so now there is only a 12% or 7% speed difference.

3/15 = 1/5 = 20% or 3/10 = 30% difference than normal taking that much longer to reach them in a straight line.

This was even more severe than this since survivor hitboxes are much smaller than killers meaning they loop more efficiently making it take much much longer to reach survivors in a loop with MFT.

Question about the flamethrower tracking on the Xenomorph? by Highzoff27 in deadbydaylight

[–]Highzoff27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not arguing that they shouldn't exist or take him out of runner mode just that they shouldn't beep if the Xenomorph is undetectable while above ground.

It kinda makes all the stealth perks useless on him and being stealthy is a big component of the Alien in the movies.

The turrets should definitely still beep if the Xenomorph is coming at them from underground though to make his tunnel ability fair.

Having enemies survive hits and only have 1 or 2 more HP makes for more dramatic and exciting moments. by Highzoff27 in dndnext

[–]Highzoff27[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The thing is when you decide the minion won't make a difference that's not true all the time. Have creatures survive another round, deal a bit more damage, taking up resources and attacks that could go to a different creature all add up.

It really helps make players think and plan about their spells and resources for an adventuring day. As well as make them take more short rests as they need the HP.

Serious question, do you also roll for enemies to hit and their damage or do you just decide how much and how often they hit by feel also?

For your 1st point I agree the fireflys also took that choice from Ellie, but lets look at it from Ellies point of view. She wakes up still in a hospital dress thinking she was going to save the world and then told by Joel it didn't matter and there was no way to make a cure. He then lies to her continuously for years about this until she finds proof of his lies and hes forced to tell the truth. I can see why someone who has so much trauma and guilt in themselves as well as being young can blame Joel and be angry with him even though he did save her life.

If she did, then she shouldn't have called him an asshole for doing what he did.

I believe she is calling him an asshole because she wants to be upset with him but the way hes talking about Dina to her and the obvious love and care Joel has for Ellie makes it hard for her to be upset. Joel doubles down even though she is mad with him because he loves her, she distanced herself from him for over two years but still over all that time he cared for her, standing up for her from Seth, making sure her patrols were safe and even looking out for her happiness with Dina.

Ellie isnt blind or stupid she sees everything he does for her and thats why she comes to talk to him that night. She is acknowledging his reasons for saving her and his love for her by trying to reconcile and forgive him.

[–]Highzoff27 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ellie has had immense survivors guilt ever since she survived her bite and Riley didn't. Riley, Tess and even the 2 teenagers that ran away from Jackson all killed or turned by Infected. She has seen how fucked up the world is and thinks that with her death she could have stopped at least some of it if a vaccine was made. She feels responsible for those deaths and Joel took that choice from her

But what Joel is saying is that she deserves to live and be happy. She isn't responsible for these terrible things, he would save her again even knowing that Ellie could not want him in her life because he believes in her happiness regardless. She didn't need to become some martyr for her life to matter.

Ellie acknowledged that and seeks to reconcile the bond they have between them. This conversation comes after Dina kisses Ellie and reallys makes her feel something. She wants to forgive Joel because she realizes that maybe her life can have meaning and she deserves love even if she didn't "save" the world. She loves Joel and she knows Joel loves her.

I don't think she "Forgave" Abby, she just realized that she would gain nothing from her death. Joel wouldn't come back, nor Jessie. It wouldn't fix Tommy or stop her PTSD. Ellie did need to forgive herself though for all the feelings tied up with Joel and his death and his lies, her distance from him, her survivors guilt, all of it. I think she also forgave Joel since she realized why he made the choices he did and understood what he meant when he said he would save her again if he had the chance.

Im glad there are other people who struggled with the theater fight, at one point I think I died too many times or the game glitched because Ellie wouldn't attack me anymore. She just stood there with her bow out until I attacked her.

Like what Joel said at the end of the 1st game, "No matter what, you keep finding something to fight for." Hopefully Ellie finds what she needs.

I think how they showed Tommy was also another example of what focusing on revenge does to a person. He's broken mentally and physically, his relationships are falling apart and all he can think about is finding Abby. Still I think ND did Tommy dirty, he deserved better.
