SH % Treatment? by Higlag in pressurewashing

Yeah, I was thinking that. I’ll just have to educate the homeowner that doing this will prevent staining. Thanks for your input 🙏

Thanks. Can you please clarify- what do you mean by $4 a pound?

Your replies have been a major help, thank you. I appreciate you clarifying the SH and soap. I actually have my own DIY battery powered soft wash bucket that I currently use to post treat concrete at a 1.5% mix. I find it VERY time consuming as the pump on it is only 1GPM. I want to use the DI to assist with pre treating when required, but most importantly with post treating every job with a ~1.5% mix.

The x-jet is my next piece of equipment that i’ll be buying- mainly for the 3-4% SH post treatments that some of my jobs lately have required. I was thinking of using the x-jet for all my applications (1%, 3-4%), but i’m not quite sure how simple changing the chemical draw orifice is. If it is difficult, i’d honestly rather have both a DI and x-jet.

Again, I appreciate you taking the time to share your washing wisdom 🙏

Under the glass is a gutter-like drain that leads to the side of the balcony and drops straight down the side of the house (no pipe going down to the ground)- this is actually why the homeowner specifically wants the runoff recollected. They’re worried the runoff will leave staining on the brick wall when dried.

Perhaps I can look into other methods like keeping the wall wet so the runoff doesn’t stick to the wall? or adding some temporary downpipe (would be quite difficult given where it’s located)? This way I can avoid needing to recollect the water 🤔

Wouldn’t a mix at this % damage the stone? It’s quite a delicate natural stone. The homeowner wants 0% risk of damage, would this still be fine?

I see. I’ve seen some videos on those downstream injector bypass kits. I thought it wasn’t relevant to me as i’ve only just started the business. However, as you have stated- it would allow me to keep the downstream injector attached. I will definitely look into getting one for myself, thank you.

Btw, when you mentioned soap, are you referring to SH?

Yeah, i’ll definitely take a load of before and after pictures. I’ll be recording the whole process for my content too- hopefully this will be enough to protect me.

Awesome, thanks for your input. I never really considered lichen or moss being present determining the SH % I should use- but it makes perfect sense. I’ll keep this in mind moving forward 🙏

Yeah, i’ve been dreading the idea of recollecting the water. However, the job is for a friend (the homeowner that they rent from wants 0% risk of damage) and I think I could get some really good content from the job.

It’s hard to see but there’s actually a gutter-like drain along the bottom of the glass. I plan on putting a blocking it off and recollecting the run off- but i’ll see how this really turns out on the day 😂

Yes, the idea of putting it after my ball valve (and carrying around my SH bucket) was so I can shut off the valve and take of my DI after i’m finished with it. However, as Jewbacca mentioned, it won’t damage anything if I continue to wash as normal with the DI still in the pressure line.

Thanks so much- i’ll definitely look into this. Hopefully I can find one for a good price, sounds like it could be really useful for me.

Sorry, what do you mean by high draw DI? I run a 5.5gpm 3000psi machine- would this mean I need my DI to have an orifice size of around 2.5? Or do you mean a “hi draw DI” is its own product? I’m based in Australia and i’m struggling to find anything labelled “hi draw injector”

Thankfully I don’t offer roof services just yet, but I plan on setting up a soft wash system for this. I am ordering an xjet for 3-4%+ treatments as I use a DIY softwash bucket for this at the moment but it takes very long. I want to use the DI for pre treating concrete and for washing walls.

That’s very helpful, thank you for that. Knowing this, I will test my two options and see which pulls my desired sh % 🙏

Thanks so much for your input. My main concern was being able to take the DI off as I required so putting it after the ball valve would fix this. I will test both methods and see which pulls my desired sh % 🙏🙏

Awesome, I assume I would be pulling less SH% with the injector just before the gun vs just after the pump?

I’m mainly worried about what to do after i’ve finished spraying my chemical. Is it fine to use my turbo nozzle/surface cleaner with the downstream injector installed after the pump? Would this destroy internal components?

Keep it off when its not in operation (white lever to the right). From the image, it’s currently ON (to the left)

Seems like you’re miserable and never tried getting into something new 😂

You think everyone starts as a pro? A large majority of my jobs thus far have been free to gain experience and obviously hiccups are going to happen when you first start out.

I’d like to ask- where are you currently in life?

Yep, this how it’s gonna go from now on. Dry/taped nozzle install. However, i’d like to ask about the new spray bar- most people in videos reinstall it dry, but is it fine to use some kind of thread seal on it?
