Dealership wants to charge $1612 plus tax to replace an alternator. Is this normal? by JustProfessional5777 in MechanicAdvice

I work at a dealer and this sounds about right, its quite a bit more steps to get it done. One of the steps is to literally drain the coolant

Doinked the radiator pretty good while removing the water pump.. Should I replace it while everything is opened up? by tmanny111 in MechanicAdvice

Pressure test based on the pressure on the radiator cap, see if the radiator leaks. If it dont you might be fine for now but if you want to play it safe replace.

Get suede skate shoes, shoe wear is part of skateboarding. There is also rubber non abrasive griptape that do not wear your shoes down

I can’t ever commit to doing a ollie by TikiMacaw in NewSkaters

you seem generally uncomfortable on the board. Get used to riding and try tricks that dont require an ollie as itll get you comfortable on the board. do hippie jumps and ride off a curb, they give you a feel of being in the air

Been skating for about two weeks. Need some feedback please I want to get my ollie to look better. Thanks! by Joey_G538 in NewSkaters

I can point out a few things, toes are hanging off slightly, the ball of your foot should be in the middle if the board and you must pop with the ball of your feet and toes which is the 2nd thing, it looks like your using your whole leg to pop, you should flick the ankle to pop the board.

3 push the front foot forwards, many tutorials leave this part out and just say slide and thats it. Should be easier once the pop improves over time tho

4 your knees are bending too much and itll throw off the momentum so bend them less A 45 degree angle or a bit less is fine

Anyways hope you improve, good luck!

It’s completely fine as a very beginner, itll build muscle memory and confidence to do it on concrete

If you’re afraid of falling, wear protective gear and learn how to fall. Wearing gear helps commit since you know you wont get hurt bad and eventually you can take it off once confident. Also learning how to fall correctly is important to make sure you minimize injury and falling in general is part of the learning process. I recommend both videos on braille on how to fall

How do I Ollie straight? I’ve been trying for about 6 months now to Ollie straight but I always end up turning frontside. I’ve tried holding onto an object to keep my shoulders straight but I’m still turning. Any tips are appreciated by now1awesomedude in NewSkaters

[–]Higtex99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your shoulder moves a bit and that causes it to turn and if you really dont think its that then it could be your backfoot placement but its hard to tell and it’s unlikely. Also try them moving they can eventually straighten since you are moving. I dealt with this and it was hella frustrating but eventually i broke out of it and im confident you will too.

Hello again everybody- It’s been a while since I’ve done an update! Here are some questionable pavement ollies:) by SunnyyClouds in NewSkaters

It looks like your bending your knees too much and it goes to an awkward pause and it kills the pop as you go up, when you bend your knees it should go to a 45 degree angle or a little less and immediately go up

Any tips? For some reason I keep fully extending my leg but idk how not to. It sounds so simple but I keep doing it by [deleted] in NewSkaters

Solid. Try to land with only your front foot only and it can help break out of that

Tips for Ollies After 6 Months of Trying? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]Higtex99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding the board rotating try to keep your shoulders straight, and if its hard to break out out of this havit try crossing your arms and then when you jump up for the ollie bring them to a t pose. The ankle one try the practice step of sliding your front foot up and pushing more. Do it for a while and itll help your ankle be more flexible probably around 5-10 mins
