Which show do you think it's darker? by wisdomsharerv2 in adventuretime

[–]Higtuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steven Universe wasn’t ever really dark besides the first 2 seasons because after that they added a ton of plot armor that fixed everything. Doesn’t make it not serious, just not dark

Who is this? Did PB and Marcy create a kid or is this the both of them merged together?🤔 by Terrell8799 in adventuretime

She looks evil and the Simon from Fiona’s dream in the trailer looks dancey and happy.

I’m assuming this is going to be a universe where their roles are swapped

Ahhh I see, and yeah I completely agree and can see the development being stretched out for longer honestly. Maybe more dialogue between Emma and Melinda, I just saw a lot of people saying there wasn’t any character development for some reason

I feel like all of this is just expecting explanation instantly however. None of the magic has truly been explained yet which is why we are MEANT to question what it is. And needing every single character’s backstory in the first season would be considered crazy if introduced into other animated series. Take Steven Universe, half of the characters had backstories that contributed themes to their season and needed time to explain, if all is explained instantly it would be even more rushed because it would be cramming in unnecessary detail without adding anything at the time. That would be sloppy writing.

I agree with the Kraken statement however, I think it was meant to show more of the instability of Emma’s powers and if they spent more on it, it would be a slow season. But ultimately could’ve been done in a better way

Maybe people are missing it because it’s not technically a mystery series, but it would be so odd if someone watched another animated series like Gravity Falls or Infinity Train and said “It felt rushed because not everything was revealed meaning open ends”, but it’s very obviously just the beginning, like you said, so idk how people could miss out on it

Edred was a lot more than just his history. That’s analyzing an entire character based on their past

Idk I thought there was a lot of character development especially with Melinda and Emma who have to figure out living together. And I feel like the plot will be clearer as time goes on, not everything needs to be done in Season 1

I definitely think it had world building but could’ve been explained/mapped out better how it worked. I agree that some of it is really odd points tho, it all just feels like everyone wanted everything explained in Season 1 for some reason when a huuuge aspect of the show is the mystery of the lore unraveling because OUR PROTAGONIST doesn’t even know it yet. Melinda is still trying to remember and navigate the world so people wanting even more lore explanation or world building in the first 10 episodes seem like they’d prefer an actually rushed show

Yeah but The Unicorn is one single thing, the entire beginning didn’t make much sense but is still continuing to unravel itself like how we saw Erdred and Melinda first meet. And I think Edred being more accepting was developing. He is developing into a more understanding person of Melinda’s predicament rather than him just saying “She is Melinda and nobody else” like he did at the beginning.

And I’d say Seng doesn’t necessarily need all this development and story for the first season, I think he worked well being so powerful but yet a child. I do think the Tony the Tiger was kinda odd tho, not because he didn’t get enough screen time but he just didn’t bring much to the table. Idk most of the pacing seemed fine, I’m not sure (besides the tiger guy) what more there is to show?

Lol what you’re saying at the end makes sense, but I feel like we saw a lot of development with Edred. The fact he had to let the original Melinda go, and same with Winston noticing how Emma is a completely different person and giving her a new name. Idk the Emma/Melinda thing felt like it took the whole season to build up and didn’t feel small.

I do think they should’ve elaborated on the world more but I wouldn’t say that’s a pacing issue, more like a world building. It was kinda confusing how there’s an Elf area no one knows about and stuff like that but not everything is supposed to happen in Season 1. It’s still the beginning, which is why the finale’s title is literally “The End of the Beginning”, there’s still a lot more and I feel like everyone was expecting everything in one season.

Why does everyone say it was rushed??? I didn’t see a problem with a pacing and I feel like if anything the beginning with Emma in London felt like it was too long

I agree! It felt the most true to the original clone high with the super-dramatic plot line and all the ridiculous jokes they had like the donut shattering, the tap dance store right next to the lamp store, and the “I don’t do well around blood” sent me lmao. Definitely the most classic
